WFM Fruzsina Szente-Varga Hi, nice to see you here! :)
I'm Fruzsi, a chess streamer, coach, blogger and content creator.

I am Fruzsi (you can call me Fru as well), a 26y/o WFM from Hungary. I started playing chess when I was 8 years old, and since then I participated in many national and international tournaments. Most of the time I was in the first 3 on the Youth Hungarian Chess Championships between girls under 18 (even won a few), and I got silver and bronze medals on the Youth European Union Chess Championships.

I hold a WGM and a WIM norm, and my highest Elo was 2266, so I'm on my way to level up, and become a Woman International Master! Beside chess, I have a master degree in psychology, but I promise, I don't read minds (that often). I also love to discover more about our world by travelling, reading and chatting, but I also enjoy crafting, taking photos and watching movies or series.

I'm sorry for not being so present online in the past few weeks, I had been preparing for the European Women Chess Championship for some time, which ended a few days ago. There were ups and downs, but overall I'm happy with how I performed 😊 One of the biggest takeaways; I still need to work on my time trouble, because if I didn't make a big mistake a bit before the 40th move in a much better/winning position due to time trouble in the 4th and 7th round, then probably I would have scored my last norm for the WIM title. 😭 I guess that has to wait a bit more 🥲 I will analyze these games on my twitch channel next week Friday, Saturday and Sunday each day starting at 11AM(-ish) CET. I would be happy to see you on https://m.twitch.tv/szefru😊

The Sunway Sitges Chess Festival has begun!

My main goal is to give my current 100% in each game, and to pay more attention to my time trouble issues, and of course, to enjoy the tournament! 😊

The competition is quite tough, you can follow the tournament on this link: https://chess-results.com/tnr830639.aspx?lan=1&art=0&turdet=YES&flag=30

In this video I played against the second duolingo bot, Junior, and I tried to explain every move! During the match I also talked about the King's Indian Defense, cheap tricks and you can also see how I punished the bot quickly for its poor play, without letting it have any counterplay.

A little ...🥲 This picture was taken exactly 9 years ago at my last Hungarian Youth Chess Championship where we became second. Back then, as a child/teenager going to a chess tournament meant meeting all or most of our friends, comforting each other after bad losses, celebrating each other's wins, staying up late to play, chat or go for a walk... And when the tournament was over, you didn't have to be sad, because most likely you were going to meet in another youth championship or tournament in a couple of weeks. Going to tourneys nowadays as an adult is so different, because even though we all still play and work with chess, we don't go to the same tournaments anymore, or not that often, and certainly not the whole team. 😞 I miss the good old days 🥹

I once more participated in the Global Chess Festival in Budapest yesterday! Just like last year, it was organized very well, there were many exciting programs, and I even got to take a picture with some famous chess personalities such as; the super grandmaster Vasyl Ivanchuk, three very popular chess commentators and content creators; GM David Howell, IM/WGM Tania Sachdev and WFM Alessia Santeramo. I also had the chance to meet with two Hungarian chess content creators who were invited to the event; FM Dávid Haszon and IM Ármin Juhász (with whom I didn't have the chance to take a picture unfortunately). Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and made it even more amazing! 😊

Here is the second episode of the Rook Reflections podcast!

I also have a personal link, which can offer a 20% discount if you sign up with it (and this way you also support me)! https://chessmood.com/?r=Szefru 😊
