QPR boss Marti Cifuentes:

“They’re a very physical side, they scored, that was the first moment and six or seven minutes of the second half they were very dominant.

“Nardi made a great save to keep us in the game, and after that we made some adjustments, but against a team that pressed so high and being so dynamic, it’s about getting the right combination.

“We got to 1-1 and that was the case. We got in behind them, we managed to get the goal which was exceptional and then we were very good.

“We got the second goal, we had good control, the last four or five minutes we came under pressure, but it was a good shift.”

QPR score twice in three minutes to turn the game around and beat a Luton side now without a win in their opening four Championship games.

Harrison Ashby has joined QPR on loan from Newcastle United.

The 22-year-old right back will remain in W12 for the duration of the 2024/25 season.

Ashby, who came through the ranks at West Ham United before moving to St James’ Park in January ’23, is relishing the opportunity to progress his career in west London.

“There is only one place that I wanted to come and I am really excited for what’s ahead,” Ashby said.

“The people I spoke to, and the chats that we had, straight away my head turned.”

Explaining why QPR felt the right fit, Ashby admitted how Rangers play their football was a key factor.

“A big thing coming on loan is the style of football you are going to play,” he said.

“When you are on loan you want to improve, you want to get better and help the team.

“The set up here, I can definitely improve my game.”

Ashby has represented Scotland at Under-17 and Under-21 level and is excited to play in the Championship again, having spent last season on loan at Swansea City.

“The experiences I have been though have really helped me in my career and coming here is another experience I can add to the list,” he said.

“Now that I am here and I have seen around, my head is fully turned to playing for QPR and getting started.”

Ashby will wear squad number 20.

QPR boss Marti Cifuentes told BBC Sport:

"It's mixed feelings because only getting a point from a game like this is not enough.

"I think after we scored the goal we started allowing Plymouth to have too much possession.

"We changed some things in the second half and created a lot of chances, the keeper was fantastic.

"The way we attacked in the last 20 minutes was too emotional and not the way we should."

“We knew that they could push and put pressure on us from the beginning. It’s a team that’s just gone down from the Premier League and it’s the first game at home and that’s the kind of start that you expect.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t cope with that and the first half was not very good.

“In the second half, we were more fluid when in possession and we had the capacity to challenge one-v-one in areas that we wanted to challenge and create chances. Definitely a big difference.

“What we spoke about at half-time was that it was very important to win, no matter what the score in the second half."
