Dr.Marly Joseph Desir represented Haiti at the Global Gathering of Conservation Leaders a New York, NY, April 30-May 3, 2022—The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) and the AAMC Foundation brought the largest annual gathering of curators and the only conference dedicated to international dialogue among all curators to non-profit. Overall attendance exceeded 400 people from 17 countries, including Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Belize, Brazil, Canada, England, Haiti, India, Italy, Kosovo, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Scotland and the United States, with representation from 40 US states. Centered on the theme of sustainability and revitalization, the sessions explored decentralized conservation models; explore art that addresses collective trauma and difficult knowledge; the impact of arts tourism on communities around the world; and workplace alternatives, including unionization. The last day of programming devoted an entire half-day dedicated solely to climate topics.
