The CSPJ accepts with regret the resignation of Me Arcelyn Bellora Charles, a full judge in Gros-Morne
The Haitian judicial system is experiencing a notable departure. In an official correspondence dated August 16, 2024, the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), by the signature of its president Me Jean-Joseph Lebrun, confirmed that it had accepted the resignation of Me Arcelyn Bellora Charles, a full judge at the Gros-Morne Peace Court.
Me Arcelyn Bellora Charles, who served as a full judge for more than seventeen (17) years, formalized his departure in a letter dated July 31, 2024. This departure, motivated by incessant threats related to the exercise of his functions as well as the general climate of insecurity in the country, was accepted by the CSPJ with regret and respect.
In its correspondence, the CSPJ praised the professionalism and commitment of the magistrate throughout his career:
"While wishing you good luck in your future projects, the Superior Council of the Judiciary renews its distinguished greetings to you, Magistrate. 》 added the note
This departure comes at a critical time when the Haitian judicial system is facing major challenges, requiring the presence of competent magistrates to ensure fair and independent justice. So far, no official information has been communicated regarding the appointment of a replacement.
The departure of Me Arcelyn Bellora Charles leaves a significant void at the Gros-Morne Peace Court, but also opens a new chapter for the magistrate. In the meantime, the CSPJ will have to work to ensure the continuity of judicial services in the commune, while facing the many challenges weighing on the country's judicial system.
