“Hurry up and finish so I can get on with my work.”
It is said that Marie Skłodowska Curie uttered these words to the photographer during this photo session in her laboratory. This photo was taken at the beginning of the 20th century.
Curie’s tireless dedication to research becomes evident when we look back at her scientific accomplishments. Indefatigable despite a career of physically demanding and ultimately fatal work, she discovered polonium and radium, championed the use of radiation in medicine and fundamentally changed our understanding of radioactivity. For her scientific dedication and remarkable breakthroughs, she was awarded the 1903 physics prize and the 1911 chemistry prize. She was a trailblazing scientist.
