It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Dr. Sc. Vladimir Mrša, Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology at the University of Zagreb, and a long-time member of the Organising and Programme committees for PUBMET.

As a distinguished professor and a respected figure in the scientific community, Dr. Mrša made significant contributions as an outstanding scientist and an advocate of open science. Above all, he was a dear friend and colleague who mentored generations of young scientists and experts, helping them find their own way.

We are committed to honoring his legacy by striving for excellence in scientific research and continuing to promote open science, just as he believed in and supported us to do. He will always remain in our hearts.

📚 Throwback to PUBMET2018 - The 5th Conference on Scholarly Publishing in the Context of Open Science! 🎉

At PUBMET2018, we were honoured to have keynote lecturers Vanessa Proudman and Katarzyna Szkuta shedding light on European policies for financing and promoting open access. 🌍 Our lineup of invited lecturers including Jon Tennant, Silvio Peroni, Gareth O’Neill, and Ignasi Labastida i Juan delved into crucial topics like fostering a culture of open scientific practice, open citations, supporting young researchers in publishing open access, and advancing open science at the institutional level. 📖🔍

To equip our conference participants with practical knowledge, we organized insightful workshops on plagiarism detection, authorship and contributorship sessions, and a workshop on Bibliometry and discovery services. 📊📝

The 4th PUBMET was held in Zagreb from September 21-22, 2017, with a pre-conference day on September 20! 🌟

Participants gathered at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb. The conference was organised by the Department of Information Sciences at the University of Zadar, in collaboration with the University of Zagreb and the Ruđer Bošković Institute, with support from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia and the EU project OpenAIRE.

The conference featured an incredible lineup of invited speakers, including Jan Erik Frantsvåg, Tony Ross-Hellauer, Kianoush Khosravi-Darani, Geoffrey Williams, Joan Marsh, Raf Guns, and Matthew Buys.

💡 On the pre-conference day, September 20, 2017 (Wednesday), participants had the opportunity to engage in workshops that explored text processing, assessing scientific impact, plagiarism detection, and analysing the scientific landscape.

It was an enlightening experience, and we are grateful to all who attended and contributed to the success of the event!

PUBMET2016 was held in the beautiful city of Zadar from October 20th to 21st 2016, it brought together over 110 participants from various countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Hungary, Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and of course, Croatia! 🌍

Our conference was enriched by exceptional speakers, including Gunnar Sivertsen, Flaminio Squazzoni, Miro Pušnik, Ana Marušić, Nicolaie Constantinescu, Siniša Zrinščak, and Marija Tomečak. 🎙️ Through their presentations, we explored key topics such as the evaluation of scientific contribution, open access, the role of libraries, and good practices in scholarly publishing. 📚

PUBMET2016 provided a treat for all scientific enthusiasts, offering a platform for exchanging ideas, experiences, and the latest insights. 🤝 This conference was another step towards openness in scholarly publishing, promoting transparency and accessibility of scientific research.
