It was a little chilly, and raining most of the morning, but this is one of my favorite jumps in the area! LOVED getting out and scouting locations and prepping for something more exciting here in the future!

Got to watch the last sunset of 2021 with friends and adventure out to see the first one of 2022 with the adventure team. Feeling lucky and stoked that this little adventure team is down for pretty much anything, even if getting up at 4:30 isn’t ANYBODY’s idea of a good time. Absolutely the best start we could hope for in the new year and hoping that there are plenty of great adventures ahead. The year ahead will have challenges of course, some pretty hard ones likely, but we will keep hope, cherish our loved ones, and push forward always.

Sending overwhelming joy and peace to our friends and loved ones far and wide. May 2022 be a year of care and stewardship for our planet, and exemplary compassion and humanity.

A quiet afternoon sitting out the typhoon so while the kids read and watched TMNT, the better-half got a well deserved nap in, I spent a little time Painting in the gold on another of the icons. Stylistically this is definitely a current favorite. All that’s left on this one is a second coat on the paint, light and film it, and process the video colors and I’ll be able to release number 3!

Finally finished the production and minted the first of a series of mixed-media video portraits as NFT with . This series of portraits is titled All Saints and is inspired by the lives of the subjects photographed. The Warriors (a sub-set of three portraits) were recent arrivals in Lisbon when I met them a few years back. They spent their time working jobs to make ends meet, teaching fitness classes to the elderly or less fortunate in the parks, and pursuing their passion as Muay Thai fighters. All of these guys were kind, powerful, and passionate. When I met them, they struck as being “special.” In my mind, that meant that they were stewards of and were nurturing a divine spark. I don’t know why that’s the image that came to me, but that was how I met them. (In fact, the next video I plan on releasing was a major inspiration for this series and it’ll probably be obvious why when you see it.)

Those of you who know me, know that I don’t share this work often (ever). You can attribute that change to this series as well, and these individuals specifically. I hope to introduce you to some of the people who have inspired me. To do good. To help. To stand up.

Reading about the events in Afghanistan and thinking about this land and its people. Desperately want the hard times in this region to end. These people have lived 40+ years of modern conflict.

I’ve never been inside the country but I’ve stood on the northern border and looked in to the Hindu Kush from Faisabad all the way to the Wakhan Corridor. There was that time we ran across the river when the caravan descended into the valley, but I’m pretty sure we didn’t cross the line.

The region has a weird hook in me that I can’t explain except for the fact that the land and the people, from my observations are strong, rugged, resourceful, caring, and resilient. The history in the region stretches back millennia And I’ve rarely been in places that have so overwhelmed me by their physical scale or by the weight of their ghosts of historical significance. The place is old.

To my friends from the region, I miss you. Please be safe. And to the place I’d hoped to visit many times by now, I’ll be waiting to see you in a better era. Hoping for peace in the region.

Hinge Kong Island is roughly the size of Manhattan. And when we think that we haven’t been out of the city since Feb 2020, it’s hard to believe. But then we get days like this, when just looking out the window gets you close to that feeling.

Hong Kong, you tiny beautiful wonderland, we love you. Even if I do wish we could get the hell outta here for a minute!

So excited to get back into the field and shoot some exciting content!

Got to sneak away last night for a quick reccy out to my new favorite beach. What felt like a wild, undiscovered place is literally just out our front door. Planning on spending a lot of time this summer exploring the places that are just a 🤏 harder to get to.
