'Building artificial islands in this era of climate change is a perfect example of creating new disaster risks – exposing human lives and properties to the growing hazards of rising sea levels and typhoons while reducing the capacity to cope as financial resources are drained.

'It requires large amounts of energy and materials that will result in significant greenhouse gas emissions at a time when the Hong Kong government has made carbon reduction commitments under the Paris climate accords'

Building artificial islands drains the resources needed to cope with climate change while creating new disaster risks and exposing more human lives and properties to rising sea levels and typhoons.

Edward Leung, the former head of Hong Kong Indigenous, was released from Shek P*k prison at 3am today - an unprecedented move because of police fears that supporters and media would gather to welcome Leung, a still-popular figure who coined the famous and now-seditious slogan of the 2019 protests.

Leung was jailed for six years in 2018 for his role in the 2016 Mongkok riot and was released early because of good behaviour.
