Residents of Little Red Village on Guyana’s Essequibo Coast now have access to a new community hub following the official commissioning of the ‘Lil Red Community Centre’ on November 27.

Constructed by Food for the Poor (Guyana) Inc. – with a grant from SBM Offshore Guyana – the centre provides a dedicated and accessible space for recreation, youth programs, skills training, meetings and cultural activities.

PARAMARIBO, SURINAME – Industry leaders and government officials insist that Suriname’s ability to benefit from upcoming offshore oil production will rely on sustained investments in skills, education and local content capacity.

TotalEnergies EP Suriname General Manager Artur Nunes da Silva said discussions about workforce gaps must start with recognizing Surinamese potential. “Surinamese are often too pessimistic about themselves,” he said.

Guyana’s deepwater volumes remain central to the pool of “advantaged barrels” that analysts say can withstand prolonged low-price environments.

Rystad Energy's VP Radhika Bansal said the firm tested the economic resilience of regional volumes across multiple Brent scenarios, noting, “It’s not about high oil prices. It’s about testing the competitiveness of these volumes at different oil price scenarios…especially the low oil price scenarios.”

ExxonMobil Guyana’s offshore oil production averaged 841,000 barrels per day (b/d) in October across the four producing Stabroek Block developments, according to newly released government data.

The month was defined by continued stability at the mature projects and a sharp climb in volumes at Yellowtail as it moved toward full capacity.

Guyana President Irfaan Ali on Friday urged the country’s private sector to form a consortium capable of joining offshore operations by providing supply and other support vessels.

Petrobras will prioritise exploration along Brazil’s Equatorial Margin as part of its 2026–2030 Business Plan, committing to drill 15 wells in the region between Amapá and Rio Grande do Norte.

Global price-reporting agency Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will introduce two new freight assessments on December 1 that specifically track the cost of shipping Guyana’s crude to Europe.

The move comes as Guyana cements its place as a supplier to the Atlantic Basin following the rapid expansion of offshore production.
