Career Choices and Personal Development Outreach in Region 6!

On 4th-5th November , we reached 129 students—53 at Vryman Erven’s Secondary and 76 at Canjie Secondary—through tailored sessions aimed at empowering them with the tools for career planning and personal growth. Each session was led by skilled facilitators who designed their approach based on insights from previous assessments at these schools.

The feedback speaks volumes, with students appreciating the guidance and care packages provided. This journey of guiding young minds to brighter futures is both rewarding and impactful.

Akash Persaud shared insights on how he started his journey as a psychologist. He also spoke on his role as a Senior Guidance and Counselling Officer at the Ministry of Education, supporting students across various regions.

In studio, there was also a representative from the Women's Chambers; the newly elected board was discussed and the goals on which they plan on accomplishing in the coming year.

Today was the final day of teaching the kids at New Campbellville Secondary for the project which is being guided by the Ministry of Education - Migration Education Support Unit in collaboration with UNICEF. Today’s topic was Mindfulness and Stress Reduction Techniques and Building a Sense of Advocacy. They practiced breathing techniques, played games of standing on one leg and Simon Says. These activities taught them how easy it can be if practiced regularly to be able to listen with a calm mind and stay focused which can result in fulfilling a greater purpose by being an advocate for a cause they’re passionate about.It’s always interesting to listen to their train of thought and their questions! It was nice to see the concept being understood by the children since they were able to recognize the objectives on their own. So happy I have a translator as well!
