𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐚, 𝐔𝐬𝐚𝐩 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐨.

Today was a truly beautiful day, filled with hope and awareness. A symposium on Mental Health and HIV/AIDS awareness was held at OLMC Gymnasium on December 2, 2024. The theme of the event, "𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑯𝒊𝒅𝒆? 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌!", resonated throughout the day, encouraging open dialogue and understanding.

According to data released on January 31, 2024, there were 138 reported HIV cases in the Province of Eastern Samar from 1984 to September 2023. This sobering statistic highlights the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness, a message emphasized by Dr. Samuel Baldono, one of the guest speakers, this morning. He stressed that prevention is paramount, reminding the audience that 'prevention is better than cure.' Dr. Baldono also highlighted the crucial role of knowledge, especially for students and teenagers, as understanding the virus is essential. He concluded by urging everyone to learn more about HIV/AIDS, take care of their health, and remain vigilant.

Mental health is a prevalent issue, particularly affecting students in our country. This afternoon, Nurse Alessa Jamyl B. Ypil shed light on Mental Health Awareness, discussing various mental health challenges such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, and PTSD. She explored potential causes that can contribute to mental health deterioration and shared possible preventative measures to address these issues. To ensure understanding, she concluded her presentation with a question-and-answer session, allowing students to engage with the information and clarify any doubts.

The Samar Cluster PRISAA Meet is just around the corner, scheduled for December 2024, and athletes got a chance to fine-tune their skills yesterday at Locsoon Covered Court with a tune-up game.

The OLMC Seraphims Basketball team demonstrated their strength in this friendly match, securing a victory against the Essu-Main Criminology Basketball team. The said friendly match is still part of the OLMC Seraphims team's preparation for the upcoming Samar Cluster PRISAA meet.

Coach Zaldy Serafin believes these tune-up games are crucial to helping the team reach their full potential.

The event was a resounding success, thanks in no small part to the generosity of Brgy. Official and Sk Chairman, Ryan Jay Jamer of Brgy. Locsoon. Their gracious offer of the covered court provided the perfect space for our athletes to practice and prepare for the upcoming Samar Cluster PRISAA Meet.
