The Impact Factor of this journal is 5.795, ranking it 44 out of 143 in Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems. The Hellenic Journal of Cardiology (International Edition, ISSN 1109-9666) is the official journal of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology and aims to publish high-quality articles on all aspects of cardiovascular medicine. A primary goal is to publish in each issue a number of original articles

related to clinical and basic research. Many of these will be accompanied by invited editorial comments. Hot topics, such as molecular cardiology, and innovative cardiac imaging and electrophysiological mapping techniques, will appear frequently in the journal in the form of invited expert articles or special reports. The Editorial Committee also attaches great importance to subjects related to continuing medical education, the implementation of guidelines and cost effectiveness in cardiology. EDITORIAL BOARD

Investigating the impact of Mitral Valve regurgitation on HFmrEF. How MR affects and risk?

Although mitral valve regurgitation (MR) is a common valvular heart disease in patients with heart failure (HF), there is a paucity of data on the characterization and outcomes of patients with HFmrEF and concomitant MR. This study aims to investigate the prognostic impact of MR in patients hospitalized with HFmrEF using a large retrospective database of patients hospitalized with HFmrEF.

Diagnosis of pericarditis may be challenging, since not all patients meet conventional criteria. An overlooked diagnosis implies longer course of symptoms and increased risk of recurrences. C-reactive protein(CRP), widely used as inflammation marker, has some limitations. This study aimed to assess usefulness and prognostic value of INFLA-score, a validated index assessing low-grade inflammation, in the definite diagnosis of pericarditis.
NFLA-score was computed based on white blood cells and platelet count, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, CRP, ranging from -16 to+16. INFLA-score>0 was considered positive for the presence of pericardial inflammation.

Could this score be useful in daily clinical routine?

Is Optimized antithrombotic treatment & regular follow-ups the key to improving outcomes in patients with anemia?

Anemia is a global health concern, particularly among the elderly on chronic antithrombotic treatment. Close monitoring of hemoglobin (Hb) levels and achievement of an optimized treatment significantly enhance patients’ quality of life. This study aimed to examine the impact of antithrombotic treatment on Hb levels and readmissions in hospitalized patients with anemia.

Does post-dilatation improve outcomes? Explore the mortality & MACE data from more than 10.000 patients!

Post-dilatation after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is performed to achieve optimal stent expansion and reduce complications. However, its prognostic effects are unclear and conflicting. This study evaluates clinical outcomes after implementing a liberal post-dilatation strategy during PCI.

or ? The role of NT-proBNP/troponin ratio in the early identification of TTS

Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is not usually diagnosed until patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and echocardiographically detected apical aneurysm are found to have “normal” coronary angiography (CA).
How biomarkers can support the early identification of TTS?

How TAVR affects left ventricular remodelling and clinical outcomes in patients with low-flow low-gradient Aortic Stenosis?
Left-ventricular reverse remodelling (LVRR) is associated with improved outcome in heart failure patients. Factors associated with and predictive for LVRR in low-flow low-gradient aortic stenosis (LFLG AS) patients after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and its impact on outcome were assessed.

Isolated in & non-athletes. Epidemiology & implications
The PR interval on an electrocardiogram (ECG) mirrors atrial depolarisation and conduction down the atrioventricular node. It is initially shorter in young children compared to adolescents, with gradual physiological PR interval prolongation in adolescence.
This short communication aims to assess the prevalence, symptoms, clinical implications and outcomes of an isolated short PR interval in athletic and non-athletic adolescents.
