An animation film director, Thodoris Sarafis from Greece 🇬🇷, is featured in our last photo tribute of the 11th Film Olympiad Grand Prix.

📽️In every Film Olympiad Grand Prix, together with the best films of the competition, at least one Greek film is presented in the Live Screening - which includes in the end a Q&A discussion with the director 🎤.

The Pianist stood out as one of the best films of this Grand Prix, getting the Bronze 🥉 for Best Animation, Silver 🥈 at the People's Choice and Gold 🥇 as the Best under 5 minutes film.

We feel honoured with the presence of Thodoris Sarafis, who along with Enrique Novials from Spain🇪🇸, are tied for the most participations in the Film Olympiad, with 5 films each since the beginning of our festival!! 👏

Coincidentally, this ended up being the most successful presence of Thodoris in a Film Olympiad Grand Prix, which proves that determination is one of the most important qualities in filmmaking!

🎉 We thank him and Enrique Novials for honouring Film Olympiad with their enthusiastic participation and qualitative work - and we are looking forward to more of their projects, and to the next director who will reach 5 participations in the Olympiad for Filmmakers 😉!

📣🎥 Film Olympiad announces proudly the winners in all categories for the 11th Film Olympiad Grand Prix! We are grateful for all films, regardless of the results, for this fierce and qualitative competition!

🎭A proof to the rising level, is that for a second time in a row we have Emmy winning actors among the Film Olympiad medal winners - such as Christina Pickles who won the Best Supporting Actress Gold Medal.

🥇🇬🇪🥉The Best Film Gold medal went to "Vasomotor Rhinitis" from Georgia by Mikheil Gabaidze, a comedy with dark, political and existential semitones, based on Anton Chehov's "Death of a Civil Servant".

The film will receive the 11th Film Olympiad Grand Prix money prize. It was also favoured at the People's Choice vote, receiving the respective Bronze medal. Overall, it received 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medal !

🥉🇮🇷🥇"The Steak" from Iran by Kiarash Dadgar, received the People's Choice Gold Medal and the Best Film Bronze, in the probably best anti-war film that we have seen to date in the Film Olympiad. Overall, it received 3 Gold, 2 Silver & 3 Bronze medals!

🥈🇰🇼"J' ai Le Cafard" from Kuwait by Maysaa Almumin, impressed with the combination of imaginative creativity and addressing a crucial subject of our days received the Film Olympiad and received - in a close contest - the Best Film Silver Medal. Overall, it received 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals- and became the most successful ever Arab film in the Film Olympiad.

📽️Although not everyone can be mentioned in a post, we must definitely mention:

"Baby Talk" (USA🇺🇸) by Grace Halpern & Ryan Benson, that reached the semifinals of the Grand Prix and received 4 Gold and 1 Bronze medal, including the Gold.

"Laundromat 24/7" (Lithuania🇱🇹) by Skaistė Bartkutė, receiving 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

"In Half" (Spain🇪🇸) by Jorge Morais, receiving 2 Gold & 1 Silver medal.

"The Silent Route" (UK🇬🇧) by Merve Cirisoglou, receiving 1 Gold & 3 Silver medals.

"Dreams Like Paper Boats" (Haiti🇭🇹) by Samuel Suffren, who received the Best Director Gold, and two more Silver medals.

The four semifinalists of the 11th Film Olympiad Grand Prix! Both pairs qualified with an almost equal rating so we are awaiting for a most exciting Final Four this Friday!

Who will win the Gold 🥇 this time?

On October 11th, join us for a live screening of the four semifinalists, along with a selection of at least four other top films from the event, including quarterfinalists and significant medal nominees or winners. The screening will take place at the “Cinemarian” movie theatre, a few hundred metres away from Acropolis!

This Live Screening will feature all 8 Quarterfinalists, along with the best rated film from the Knockout stage of 16 and the best rated Greek film.

It is the second time in a row that Film Olympiad Grand Prix events feature 10 or more films, in an effort to present more and more films and creative excellence to the audience.

The Knockout stage is always the most exciting phase of the Film Olympiad.

All films now have a clear path to the Gold Medal , with 4 more wins leading to it🥇!

📌The Round of 32, had as always some surprises, based on the initial Group Stage ratings. This happens because in every round, films are re-evaluated, by an extra jury, while keeping their initial rating to a percentage.

This multi-phased approach, allows extra transparency and also excitement for the filmmakers, their fans and of course for the Film Olympiad audience, which grows in every event with more and more people who are not necessarily cinephiles but find the concept of the Olympiad for Filmmakers, exciting! 🎉🎊

🗓️Stay tuned, because on 7th October, the Round of 16 takes place and the 10 films that will be presented in the live screening will be announced along with the nominees in major categories such as Best Film, Best Animation, Best Experimental, Best Documentary, Best Music/Dance, Best Comedy, Best Human Rights "Niki Diamantakou", Best Fantasy/Thriller and more.

Group Stage results!

📌32 films, 2 from each group have qualified for the Knockout stage!

In many cases, it was a really close call, and we are proud of all the filmmakers and the dedication they showcase with their work!

🎞️Film Olympiad, has dared to be the first ever film festival to adopt full transparency, with the ratings of all the participating films by the Jury.

📖We believe that at the same time, these ratings can provide valuable feedback for filmmakers who can really know what the Jury thought about each element of their work. Of course it is a demanding task, and we are grateful for the filmmakers appreciation of our efforts.

On the next stages, each film is re-evaluated with the changes producing some exciting surprises, but also creating a more accurate final rating!

5 wins in the Knockout stage, lead a film to the Best Film Gold 🥇 and the symbolic prize money that Film Olympiad gives to the best film.

Film Olympiad congratulates its 11th Grand Prix nominees 🥳

📌These are the individual nominees, whereas the nominees for the main categories such Best Film, Animation, Documentary, etc, will be announced on the 7th October. So stay tuned for more!

31 countries participate in this event, with 🇭🇹Haiti, 🇰🇼Kuwait,🇶🇦 Qatar &🇸🇿 Eswatini, making their first ever appearances in a total of 87 countries that have participated overall in the Film Olympiad!

🌏🌎🌍🏆 We feel honoured to have a rising number of internationally awarded films, with appearances in significant festivals, such as Sundance, Cannes, Palm Springs, Short Shorts, Tampere, Durban and more.

🎨The Best Poster award acknowledges the most artistic and impressionable posters  from the participating films and it encourages our audience to become actively involved with their vote.

You can vote in either of the three following ways.

Check out the Film Olympiad medal tables. Starting from the 10th Film Olympiad Grand Prix, we publish the medal table for each Grand Prix in recognition of all participating countries.

Moreover, you can check our website www.filmolympiad.com to check out the collective standings for all Grand Prix to date.

France got the top spot in the medal table of the 10th Grand Prix with China and UK following in a close distance.

This led France to move up to the third place of the overall standings, where the USA remained first, partially thanks to the high number of overall official selections (128!).

Czech Republic, Afghanistan, Greece, Australia, Guatemala, Germany and many more counties also had notable performances.

Originally named as Best Music Video Film, our team has decided to expand the name in order to welcome and provide additional recognition to inspiring artistic films from choreographers and dancers.

We are looking forward to more Music or Dance video films participating in the Film Olympiad – since this is a genre that we respect and love, with many films having achieved great results in the past, and received numerous accolades by the Film Olympiad.

Η προβολή γίνεται στον Δημοτικό Θερινό Κινηματογράφο Ηλιούπολης "Μελίνα Μερκούρη", με την ευγενική φιλοξενία του ΠΑΟΔΗΛ και του Δήμου Ηλιούπολης.

Είσοδος Ελεύθερη.

- 60 ταινίες από 33 χώρες συμμετέχουν συνολικά. Οι 8 καλύτερες από αυτές θα προβληθούν. Ξεχωρίζουν ταινίες από την Γαλλία, Ουκρανία, Αυστραλία, Νότια Αφρική, Βενεζουέλα, Βοσνία και φυσικά την Ελλάδα!

- Θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση με Έλληνες δημιουργούς των ταινιών που συμμετέχουν καθώς και βράβευση Ελλήνων και ξένων καλλιτεχνών.
