The Gambia's Movie Industry Needs Support.

Over the years, the Gambia’s film industry has attracted some Nigerian and Sierra Leonean filmmakers who joined other Gambian movie-makers to produce contents for both domestic and international audiences.

It has always been a delight sitting with professors and high government officials to chip in my hypotheses for the economic changeover of Africa and the Arab World.

In my latest voyage via Casablanca to Nouakchott, I had the greatest pleasure of meeting high-profile personalities serving as leaders in various countries around the world. As I always say, Journalists might not know everything but they know little about everything. That is one thing that continues to inspire me to take part in decision-making as a change-maker.

I look forward to future endeavors. Cheers 🥂 to all followers.

Read about my Kora report👉🏽you will confine yourself in the epicenter of the research article to mull over whether you're reading fiction or a real-life story. It's typical African hypotheses and marvels. I am no longer going to give less to my readership. Get set for more robust research stories before the end of the year.

Lack of to***co law enforcement attracts more consumers

Sep 19, 2023, 11:55 AM | Article By: Pa Modou Cham

The Gambia is one of the highly consumed to***co countries with a fragile market that attracts different age groups including females and underage who are exposed to the products due to the lack of proper law enforcement.

The products mostly used in The Gambia include ci******es, to***co pipes, sh**ha, and s***f. Despite the government’s tax increment on to***co products to reduce its circulation, a high quantity is being imported into the country and a huge number of our population consumes it daily.

Gambia: Youth unemployment, minimum wages among factors of internet scamming

Aug 31, 2023, 11:47 AM | Article By: Pa Modou Cham

For the past years, The Gambia has become a destination for internet scamming with scammers having allegedly wiped out millions of poor people’s money who were in search of online jobs due to the limited employment opportunities in the country.

Last week, another alleged incident of scamming activity was reported. This involved Indian nationals who were running AL Group Multimedia Company Limited registered General Merchandise, Import & Export, Online Marketing, Communication and Media Relations Agency business in The Gambia.

Amid the circulation of expired foodstuffs in our markets, Journalist PM Cham wrote a story to ascertain the reasons and the authority's role in promising a country free from such toxic items.

The FSQA came to being by an Act of Parliament in 2011 but started its operations in 2013 in the area of food and feed.

Following the President's comments on looking into some community radios, I had took the onus as a journalist to engage stakeholders in order to dwell on the current scope of media freedom in the country.

In this article, I interviewed the Information Minister, Radio managers, the GPU, and an independent expert from the Birmingham University.

Kindly take your time and click the link below to have a read.

On April 21, 2023, during a visit by Banjul Muslim Elders, marking the Edul Fitr locally known as Koriteh celebration, President Adama Barrow had spoken against some community radio stations, saying they needed to be regulated as they give platform to people who “attack” his government.

Kora: the 21-string West African harp-lute founded in Gambia

Dec 30, 2022, 12:36 PM | Article By: Pa Modou Cham

Kora, the 21-string West African 'harp-lute' of the Mandinka ethnic group played by members of the four griot (hereditary musician) families, namely Kouyateh, Jobarteh, Suso and Conteh, is a xylophone founded in The Gambia – a tiny West African country around the Atlantic Ocean.

The Kora, in modern music, is accompanied by local drums belonging to the Senegambian people. Young people who are inspired to learn the instrument are first introduced to the first song of the Kora, titled: ‘Kelefa Ba’, a song that has many rhythmic and melodic versions.

Journalist PM Cham met with Ambassador Ruben

I had the opportunity to meet with Ambassador Ruben G. Abelenda of Cuba to discuss matters relating to the bilateral ties between The Gambia and Cuba. I was made to understand the existing ties and plans to be taken to further strengthen the already existing bond between the people and government of the two countries.

One important thing he mentioned was the collaboration of Caribbean and African to be each other's keepers and work in establishing avenues and mutual opportunities for our people.

It is no doubt that Caribbean and African ties run deep and are based on a shared history, culture, and sense of a common identity forged by the slave trade which forcibly relocated more than 10 million Africans to the New World; in the process, creating large centres of African Diaspora in the Caribbean and elsewhere.

Ambassador Ruben explained that if Venezuela, Columbia and other Caribbean countries can join together, they could make cooperation among the countries with the centre in Cuba to prepare many young people. I think this will be very useful to Gambian students, especially those doctors who have the intention to do their specialities.

In 2019, I had an important interview with the then Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia.

The main focus of my questioning was based on the existing bilateral relationship between the two countries and the mutual opportunities.

However, he reiterated Turkish continues support to Gambia and four year down the line, we have seen Turkish companies in the country to deliver services.

I don't know some agreements of the two countries with regards to the establishment of those said companies but will soon publish an in-depth article.
