Mobilizing Media to Fighting Covid19 (MMFC):
Second Call for Stories
Background
The Covid-19 pandemic has sparked what the World Health Organization has termed an "infodemic": an inundation of misinformation and disinformation about the disease. Trusted local journalists across the Globe can play a critical role in communicating accurate public health measures and in combating this infodemic of misinformation. This 'Mobilizing Media Fighting Covid19' project by Journalists for Human Rights will contribute to international public health efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on human rights, in particular women's and girls' rights, across 12 countries and is funded by Global Affairs Canada.
Journalists for Human Rights, in collaboration with MaiMedia are inviting journalists to apply for a reporting fellowship focusing on the impact of Covid-19 on Human Rights in the Gambia with a special focus on the rights of women and children and misinformation as part of Mobilizing Media in the Fight against Covid-19 Program.
Journalists whose story idea is selected shall start working on the story which will be supported through JHR with modest reporting grants.
Bursary recipients will receive professional mentorship throughout the story production process. The story must be completed and published by midnight of May 30th 2021.
All journalists, who attended the three-days training are invited to apply. However, female journalists who attended the training are encouraged to apply.
Call for story production:
Journalists for Human Rights (JDH) is launching a call for story pitches for in-depth and data-driven stories that focus on women's representation and participation in public life as well as the ⅔ gender parity rule. This call for proposals aims to encourage journalists to cover women and girls' participation in public life with a gender-sensitive lens.
Story Production Criteria:
