It was a battle of two neighbors who knew each other too well (Tanji United Vs Tujereng United). It was an even match played by both teams as it ended 2 all in the Kombo South District football tournament final played at Sanyang and to be replayed at a rescheduled date.

DOCTOR ISAAC KOFI a Ghanaian homeopathic doctor. He has been living in the Gambia for many years, treating people locally. I remember, when my father was sick, he was always available when we needed him. I witnessed he did it for a lot more people who can not afford to pay much for treatment of different illnesses.
He felt sick since 3 months ago. He has a stroke and got halfway paralize. He lives alone and could no longer help himself. Everyone else ran away and left him alone.
He desperately wants to go back to his family in Ghana, but he is not left with enough money to be evacuated back to Ghana. Yesterday he sent someone to me. And when I visited him, I couldn't believe what I saw. I cried 😭.
We are looking for some funds to help evacuate him back to his country at least close to his family.

A Gambian migrant living in Tunisia the city called Sfax has died, her name is Fatou Touray some call her Fatou Sey she's from Tanji in kombo.

She was sick We tried everything to help her the time she went to the hospital the doctors refused to attend to her they called the police to send her out from the hospital.

I Ebrima has shared her video in all our WhatsApp forums seeking for help from the government, IOM and the Gambians but no one comes to her rescue and she died.

She's left two daughters one is four years the younger one is just a year, she was buried but am here appealing to everyone to help us to return these two babies back to their family in Gambia.

May Allah have mercy on her soul amen.

TANJI UPPER AND SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS HOLDS FIRST EVER GRADUATION CEREMONY!!!

This marked date the 27th of July, 2024, will certainly remain and be remembered as enormous history in the great books of Tanji as the prayers and wishes of every son, daughter, mother and father of Tanji for many years was granted by the good lord "Allah" as the schools upper basic and Senior secondary were established in 2021 to record yet another milestone in the community's pursuit for education and enhancing excellence in the betterment of their lives and livelihoods through the realms of education as many understood education as the gateway to success. The wishes and dreams for their children to graduate in their own community now becomes a reality!!!
And this day I believe must be jealously kept as a "Souvenir" at Tanji museum along the highway to Tujereng for generations yet unborn.

Basically, to resonate and re-echo the above narration; Tanji upper and Senior secondary schools holds their first ever graduation of the schools' first badges grade nine and twelve respectively. This was done in a grand style were parents, Teachers, the invited guests and the graduating students alike graced this memorable occasion with so much glee, assurance and hope for a better future for their sons and daughters.

However, as the graduation progresses, the principal of the school Mr Ansu Camara took time on the podium to give his opening remarks and recount on the highs and lows of the institution from its establishment in 2021.
In brief, he spoke at length the ordeal faced by the school in setting up a strong foundation with only eight Teachers and four classrooms wherein each classroom accommodated over sixty plus students making it even more challenging for teachers to teach effectively and efficiently_ initially hosted by Tanji primary school before they could have their own classrooms built by MRC-Holland foundation. He continued by thanking the administration and the staff of Tanji lower basic school for their accommodating nature and immense support throughout their stay in their premises. He further highlighted the successes registered during this period and went on to thank the perseverance, resilience, dedication and commitment of his staff and for the amount of energy, time and resources invested during this period he remarked.

Moreover, Lamin O. Touray a native of Tanji and lecturer at the University of the Gambia in his capacity as the guest speaker of this auspicious day; deliberates on the theme: "PARENTS RESPONSIBILITIES IN THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION". In summary, he opined parents to invest heavily in their children's education. He peeled it clearly that parents shouldn't only limit themselves to monetary support on their children as many believed as the only support they can give to their school going children. He also went on to highlight other key ingredients that parents must not neglect-- key among them includes investing time, energy, care, attention and most significantly parents to forge a cordial and amicable relationship with their children which he said can easily help parents in identifying and solving their children's problems. He said investing money alone with the absence of the above mentioned wouldn't yeild success in the long run.

In conclusion, he advised parents to be wary of cellphones and the use of social media by their children which he said can serve as a deterrent to their children's progress and success in education and hinted that parents must jealously monitor their children in whatever they do or are doing. He gave one thousand dalasis (D1,000) to the school to be handed to the most regular school visiting parent as a start up and to serve as a motivation to the parents to visit the school regularly to know the progress or challenges encountered by both their children and their facilitators at large during the process of teaching and learning.

The graduation was marked by entertainment ranging from drama to singing and poetry!

Yesterday, a tragic incident occurred at the abandoned Manning Place in Tanji Solifor where three young boys ventured to swim in an unmonitored lake. Unfortunately, one of the boys, only 15 years old, lost his life after struggling in the water. His friends, unable to swim and too young to help, were helpless to save him.

This heartbreaking event underscores the urgent need for increased safety measures to protect our children. We must take immediate action to prevent future tragedies:

Secure the Area: Install fencing and clear warning signs around the lake to prevent access and alert the community to the dangers.

Raise Awareness: Educate children and parents about the risks of swimming in unsafe, unsupervised areas.

Increase Supervision: Organize regular patrols of the area by local authorities or community volunteers.

Promote Swimming Lessons: Encourage swimming lessons for children to ensure they have basic water safety skills.

Engage Local Authorities: Collaborate with local government and safety organizations to implement these necessary safety measures.

Let's work together to protect our children and ensure such a tragedy never happens again. Please share this message and help raise awareness in our community.
