Making round the internet is the controversy surrounding President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso's visit to Ghana for President Mahama's inauguration, sparking significant debates, particularly regarding his decision to carry a pistol.

Many Ghanaians perceive this act as a security breach.

Critics point out that Ghanaian laws generally prohibit foreign dignitaries from bearing arms during official visits.

However, here is my opinion: given the serious threats against Traoré—who has survived 19 assassination attempts in just three years in office inherits no blames for carrying pistol for self defense in case of ambushes and unwarranted attacks.

His situation draws parallels to the fates of previous Pan-African leaders, such as Thomas Sankara whose life was cut short for standing against imperial authorities.

Instead of apportioning blames to gallant Traoré, his visit can be seen as a courageous act that underscores his commitment to African unity and sovereignty.

There is a growing call to recognize and protect leaders like him, who embody hope for a liberated Africa.
