The Gambia: A Tiny Land with a Global Impact.

The 15th OIC Summit in Banjul, The Gambia.
The 15th Islamic Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recently took place in the charming capital city of Banjul, The Gambia. From May 4th to 5th, 2024, world leaders from the 57 member countries of the OIC, along with distinguished guests from beyond, gathered to discuss critical issues and strengthen unity among Islamic nations.

Theme: Enhancing Unity and Solidarity Through Dialogue for Sustainable Development
Under the theme of “Enhancing Unity and Solidarity Through Dialogue for Sustainable Development,” the summit aimed to foster cooperation, address global challenges, and promote sustainable growth. The OIC, as the second-largest intergovernmental organization, plays a crucial role in facilitating dialogue and collaboration among its member states.

Focus on Gaza Crisis
One of the central topics during the summit was the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Leaders deliberated on ways to alleviate suffering, provide aid, and advocate for peace in the region. The Gambia, despite its small size, demonstrated its commitment to global solidarity by hosting this significant event.

Historic Gathering in Banjul
The OIC Banjul Summit marked a historic moment for The Gambia. Presidents, kings, sultans, prime ministers, and rulers convened to discuss pressing matters, including economic development, education, and human rights. The summit provided a platform for leaders to engage in constructive dialogue, share experiences, and forge partnerships.

The Gambia’s Role
As a tiny land with a big heart, The Gambia showcased its hospitality and commitment to international cooperation. Hosting the OIC Summit allowed The Gambia to assert its presence on the global stage, emphasizing that even small nations can contribute significantly to shaping the world’s future.

Unity Amid Diversity
The diversity within the OIC member countries was evident during the summit. Different cultures, languages, and historical backgrounds converged in Banjul, reinforcing the idea that unity can thrive despite differences. The OIC’s strength lies in its ability to bridge gaps and promote understanding among nations.

Conclusion
In the heart of West Africa, The Gambia proved that its size does not limit its impact. By hosting the 15th OIC Summit, it demonstrated its commitment to dialogue, solidarity, and sustainable development. As the world faces complex challenges, The Gambia’s role as a bridge-builder and advocate for peace remains essential

*EID MUBARAK TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY:*

As Muslims all over the world celebrate the end of the sacred month (Ramadan) today on the 10th April 2024, we are therefore giving thanks to Allah the Creator, the Protector, the Provider, the Master, and the only One worthy of worship.

Ramadan is gone, but its mission shall forever remain with us. We entered it to learn and acquire, we therefore have learnt and acquired. So let's practice what we learnt and maintain or preserve what we acquired from it.

In this regard, we pray that Allah the Almighty grant us the stamina to do only what is steadfast and may He Subhaana wa ta'alaa grant us His salvation.

*Eid'al Mubarak.*
1. An occasion to show love, respect, and solidarity to one another.

2. An occasion to thank Allah for making us witnessed the sacred month of Ramadan.

3. An occasion to reflect and ponder upon what does it means to be a Muslim and Muslimat.

4. An occasion to improve oneself in goodness and deny oneself in doing evil.

5. It is such an occasion in which no one should neglect, let alone to squander its opportunities.

*Thank You Yaa Allah for this Day!*

We are once again asking Allah to allow us witness next Ramadan.

If you can recall, many people celebrated the last year Ramadan with us, but they could not make it to this year's.

Many people also started this month with us, but they didn't complete it with us, yet we did.

We pray that Allah the Forgiver, forgive them and grant them places in Jannatl Firdaws. *Aameen Yaa Rahman Yaa Raheem.*

Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident Claims Life of Nine-Year-Old in Nioro Jattaba Village

A speeding commercial vehicle struck a nine-year-old girl in Nioro Jattaba village, resulting in her immediate death, as confirmed by the Kwinella Health Centre on Saturday night.

The victim, Adama Jallow, a third-grade student, was hit in front of her home along the South Bank Highway by a car traveling from Jarra Soma towards Brikama.

Eyewitnesses reported that both the driver and the apprentice fled the scene before the arrival of the police from the checkpoint at Sankandi, the neighbouring village.

Unfortunately, road accidents resulting in fatalities are not uncommon, with Nioro Jattaba experiencing repeated loss of lives, both young and old, along the highway.

The community has consistently appealed to authorities to intervene and implement measures to safeguard the lives of the people and their livestock.
