President Barrow Appoints Vice President

In accordance with the provisions of Sections 70(1) and 70(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency President Adama Barrow has appointed Mr Muhammad B. S. Jallow as Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia with effect from 24th February 2023.

Vice President Muhammad Jallow, an experienced Civil Servant, served in different capacities, from an unqualified teacher to Permanent Secretary in various Ministries. He rose to the position of Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, a position he held until his statutory retirement in 2020. Mr Jallow also worked at the Senegalo -Gambia Secretariat as Deputy Executive Secretary representing The Gambia.

Mr. Abdoulie Jallow is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prudential Consulting and Asset Management (PCAM) which was registered in 2010 to offer Asset Management Service and Financial Consulting. In 2013, he also registered PCAM Brokers as a subsidiary to provide Insurance Brokerage Services.

Mr. Jallow was born on 30th July 1965 in Banjul. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Managerial Economics from Bethany College, West Virginia, USA, an MBA (with Merit) from Birmingham University Business School, Edgbaston, Birmingham UK and an Executive Masters in Sport Organisations Management in 2019 from Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. He conducted research on Corporate Governance in Developing Economies case Study on The Gambia and also How to Improve Governance in our National Sports Structures.

Upon completion of his BA Degree, Mr. Jallow worked for Kemwell Group Inc.; Harrison, New York, USA as Assistant Manager- Tours Systems before joining the Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG) as a Banking officer. Through his 17 years career, he rose through the ranks to the level of Deputy Director, Financial Supervision Department before voluntary retiring in 2010 from the services of the Bank.
As a senior staff of the CBG, he chaired the task forced on drafting a Corporate Governance guideline for commercial banks in the Gambia. He also conducted a study on the feasibility of establishing a Credit Reference Bureau in the Gambia. Subsequently, tasked to head the taskforce to set-up the first Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) in The Gambia. The CRB, an IMF structural bench mark, was successfully established and fully operational since August 2009.
As a senior member of the CBG management he was also involved in the designing, coordinating and facilitation of training for staff of the Financial Supervision Department of the Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG) and the commercial banks. In addition, Mr. Jallow was involved in the organization of international meetings hosted by the CBG.
PCAM Brokers is managed by a well-trained and professional staff that strive to offer its customers the best policy both in terms of scope and price thus their slogan “The Brokers You Can Trust”. In addition to running one of the most successful Insurance Brokerage Companies in The Gambia, Mr. Jallow Currently, a financial and Governance expert has served in many boards as a Director chairing committees such a Audit & Risk Committee, Governance Committee, Credit Committee and Finance & Human Committee.
Beside his professional career, Mr Jallow has a passion for sports and was highly involved in Gambian Sports. He served the Gambia National Olympic Committee first as a 2nd Vice President before being elected as the Secretary General.
