In a recent live stream on his official social media, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko speaks about his government’s past challenges and current opposition.

Sonko points out that they as a party don’t need sympathy, as they faced intense attacks when they were in the opposition.

He stresses that if people oppose them now, they should be honest. He also warns against paying journalists to spread false news and slander, suggesting there could be consequences for such actions.

One Musa Ceesay of Sukuta allegedly locked his mother inside their home and set it on fire. Reportedly, Musa shared the two-room house with his mother and his girlfriend. When the mother asked the girlfriend to leave, Musa then left, bought petrol, returned, locked his mother inside, and set the house ablaze before fleeing.

Neighbours were able to rescue the mother before the fire spread, but she sustained burns and injuries. She has reported the incident to Sukuta police, who are now investigating the alleged attack.

LET US AVOID ANYTHING THAT MAY OR CAN UNDERMINE OUR DEMOCRACY!!!!
FOR THE GAMBIA 🇬🇲 OUR HOMELAND!!!

In today's world, where social media evolves at an increasingly rapid pace, attention must be drawn to the recent move by The Gambia government to fund certain media outlets to promote their agenda, raises a serious concern about the integrity of journalism.

In a democratic space, where the freedom of the press is important in holding the government to account will be jeopardized by this move and question the integrity of the selected media houses in delivering to their responsibilities freely. This government fund will suppress media freedom and compel the selected media houses to work towards promoting and defending them.

With the acceptance of these funds the selected media houses will entirely fail to be a watchdog to the state. The media is expected to hold the government to its feet and report independently on government dealings for the interest of the country. The acceptance of these funds might also limit view points on government matters with these media outlets. I am with the view that in cementing our democracy and holding public officials to account this will be a set back and undermines divergent views most especially from those that are very firm to holding the government to account.

The rise of social media has been associated with the emergence of greater freedom of speech without censorship or barrier of any type. The media should be a platform to present information without being controlled or limited as it will open up access to different discussions.

The country is at a rough road where people need to speak up genuinely about our problems that have been concealed by officials and authorities at a higher level in their various administrations.

Inflection to The Gambia Radio and Television Services as a state owned institution should have been more empowered as they face a lot of challenges in their operation. Why did the government decide to empower private media outlets over our own state TV?.
The ministry of information has the state TV where they can promote government agendas and if your government completely loses faith in them let it shut down.

The government officials will come all out to mislead us that the agenda of the government is everyone's agenda, which is not the fact, but I am telling you these agendas is a rebranding to promote and sell the agenda of the NPP for 2026 as the popularity of the President is diminishing by the day. The media is very instrumental and being allowed to be used as a propaganda tool to propel the NPP agenda will kill their integrity.

We are concerned that this contract accorded to the selected media houses will compromise editorial Independence and media plurality will be greatly affected.

It is shocking and worrying based on the report read, it's not an inclusive contract, a few media houses were identified and contracted at their discretion.

To the PS of the Ministry of Information, he is misleading the public that there was restricted bidding process which is not true. There are media houses in the country that have no clue about the bidding process and the selection of these media houses. It was a matter of pick and choose issue and you have exactly those you needed to carry out the job for you.

The government has claimed that they have worked tirelessly to bring development to the door steps of the Gambians, and if that is true why do they need the media to inform the people when the projects is for the people?

With all these concerns, it is very important for the media to maintain their independence and safeguard the integrity of journalism to attain their freedom and impartiality in their jobs.

My question is, should the choosen media house accept this offer considering the pictures below??!👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

BIG ONE!

As been told negotiations are currently ongoing between Sudanese club Al Hilal S.C and Saudi giant Al-Nasr for the transfer of Lamin Jarjue.

Nothing has been agreed yet but talks are at advanced stage.

Al-Nasr is the club heavily reported as the next destination for Cristiano Ronaldo after leaving Manchester United.

If both deals go through, meaning Lamin Jarjue will become a teammate to his idol and one of the greatest players of football history.

Kanifing Municipal Council has learned with dismay about a fraudulent act of issuance of a fake KMC trade.
The Council regrets to inform the public about the inauthenticity of the said trade licence and point to the fact that such an act is highly illegal and can attract grave penalties for those involved: the fake licence doesn’t have the signature of the Mayor and the person did not pay to the Cashier, and says they did not receive a receipt.
There are only two ways to pay for your Trade Licence Invoice. Either at KMC Offices with the Cashier, or you use one of our partner banks (AgiBank, GTBank and Megabank). These are the only ways to pay for a licence. In either case you will be given a receipt. You take the receipt to the Licensing Office in KMC (nowhere else), and you will be issued a trade licence after all approvals have been done.
An authentic trade licence must bear the signatures of the Lord Mayor and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with their official stamps. The Mayor may be deputised by the Deputy Mayor, or for the CEO, the Deputy CEO or Director of Admin can sign. The fake licence did not have both of these signatures. If you are worried whether you have a fake licence please report to Council for clarification.
KMC urges the public to follow the due course of obtaining legal trade license from the municipality. We warn any person engaging in an illegal act of forgery, or tampering with these documents, that they will face the law.
We are writing to all Embassies and High Commissions in The Gambia to inform them about how to detect a fraudulent Trade Licence.

"VOTE MASSIVELY FOR UDP CANDIDATES SO THAT WE CAN RECLAIM OUR COUNTRY FROM THE CLUTCHES OF THE INCOMPETENCE OF THE BARROW GOVERNMENT" UDP LEADER LAWYER OUSAINOU DARBOE

"Ramadan Mubarak to all. May Allah accept our fasting and prayers and deliver us His best in this Duniya.

With the National Assembly Elections scheduled for this Saturday, let’s all go and vote to register our civic duty as citizens of The Gambia. Vote massively for our UDP candidates so that we can reclaim our country from the clutches of the incompetence of the Barrow government; so that we can control the unbearable rising cost of living in the country; so that we can make sure the affairs of the nation are prioritised for the interest of the majority and not just for the connected few. We are at a crossroads and this NA elections will determine our future as a nation.
