QUICK UPDATE: STANDOFF BY SENEGALESE TRUCK DRIVERS.

Senegalese truck drivers continue their standoff, demanding that Gambian authorities cease the installation of electronic tracking devices on their trucks upon entering the country. They are also calling for a reduction in the Senegambia Bridge tariff and a decrease in the number of police checkpoints.

The new tracking system was recently introduced by the GRA to monitor the real-time location of Senegalese trucks and to prevent the dumping or deviation of dutiable goods into the Gambian market without paying customs duties.

Our honorable councillor Malick Samba is dedicated to engaging with the Kabilo heads to reinforce the Kabilo representation, thereby strengthening the structure of the Ward Development Committee (WDC). It is essential for all representatives to actively participate in meetings to accelerate proposed programs and projects, as well as to address development plans and issues within the ward. Councillor Samba firmly believes that the WDC cannot function effectively without the active involvement of its representatives. In collaboration with Bakary Dibba, a member of the WDC, the councillor is planning a tour to visit the Kabilo heads and is appealing for support with logistics, such as car or fuel, to facilitate this important visit.
