Critical Water Shortage Hits Farafenni: A Call for Immediate Action

In Farafenni, a town in the North Bank Region, residents are grappling with a severe water shortage that has persisted for the past 24 hours. The situation is dire, with no water flowing from taps and no official communication regarding the issue.

A local resident, Ya Ndey, voiced the community's growing concern: "It has been 24 hours with no single drop from our taps. We haven't heard or seen any notice about the situation in Farafenni. Water is life." This sentiment reflects the urgent need for both immediate relief and long-term solutions to ensure a reliable water supply.

Water is essential for daily living, and its absence disrupts not just basic hygiene but also the well-being of families and the functioning of local businesses. The lack of information from authorities further exacerbates the situation, leaving residents in the dark about the cause of the outage and the expected timeline for resolution.

The government and relevant agencies must address this issue promptly, providing clear communication and effective measures to restore the water supply. Ensuring access to clean water is crucial for the health and stability of Farafenni’s community.

In the meantime, residents are advised to conserve any available water and seek alternative sources if possible. Community support and resourcefulness will be vital in navigating this challenging period.

Heavy Rainfall Causes Severe Damage to Sheriff K***a Family in Farafenni

Farafenni, The Gambia – In a devastating turn of events, the family of Sheriff K***a, residing along the Poste Highway in Farafenni, has suffered significant damage due to heavy rainfall that occurred yesterday. The torrential downpour, exacerbated by neglected waterways and gutters, has left the family in dire need of assistance.

The heavy rainfall, which lasted for several hours, overwhelmed the poorly maintained drainage systems, causing severe flooding in the area. The National Roads Authority (NRA) and the Kerewan Area Council have been criticized for their failure to address the neglected waterways and gutters, which have now resulted in extensive damage to the Sheriff K***a family's property.

The floodwaters breached the family's compound, causing the collapse of their fence and leaving their home, crops, and animals exposed to the elements. The destruction of the fence has not only compromised the safety and security of the family but has also put their livelihood at risk, as their crops and animals are now vulnerable to further damage and theft.

In the wake of this disaster, the Sheriff K***a family is urgently seeking support from the government, individuals, and philanthropic organizations to help them rebuild their fence and restore their sense of security. The family is appealing for immediate assistance to ensure the safety of their loved ones and the protection of their valuable resources.

"We are devastated by the damage caused by the heavy rainfall," said a member of the Sheriff K***a family. "Our fence has been destroyed, and we are now living in fear for our safety and the safety of our crops and animals. We urgently need help to rebuild our fence and secure our home."

The family is calling on the government to take swift action to address the neglected waterways and gutters in the area to prevent future incidents of this nature. They are also appealing to kind-hearted individuals and philanthropic organizations to come to their aid during this difficult time.

As the community rallies around the Sheriff K***a family, it is hoped that their plea for assistance will be heard and that they will receive the support they need to rebuild their lives and restore their sense of security.

QUICK UPDATE: STANDOFF BY SENEGALESE TRUCK DRIVERS.

Senegalese truck drivers continue their standoff, demanding that Gambian authorities cease the installation of electronic tracking devices on their trucks upon entering the country. They are also calling for a reduction in the Senegambia Bridge tariff and a decrease in the number of police checkpoints.

The new tracking system was recently introduced by the GRA to monitor the real-time location of Senegalese trucks and to prevent the dumping or deviation of dutiable goods into the Gambian market without paying customs duties.

MY QUESTION ⁉️
Will President Barrow's administration agree to the demands of the Senegalese drivers?

Our honorable councillor Malick Samba is dedicated to engaging with the Kabilo heads to reinforce the Kabilo representation, thereby strengthening the structure of the Ward Development Committee (WDC). It is essential for all representatives to actively participate in meetings to accelerate proposed programs and projects, as well as to address development plans and issues within the ward. Councillor Samba firmly believes that the WDC cannot function effectively without the active involvement of its representatives. In collaboration with Bakary Dibba, a member of the WDC, the councillor is planning a tour to visit the Kabilo heads and is appealing for support with logistics, such as car or fuel, to facilitate this important visit.
