Beakers conducted a sit down strike on 17 February 2025 a day before the independent celebration.

60 years of independence the country lacks politicians who will boast the economy, enhance agriculture, fishery industry, provide efficient power supply, create required employment for the jobless, enhance the health sector and protect the lives and properties of the country including other important national interests.

RE-NATIONAL CLEANUP DAY SATURDAY 1st FEBRUARY 2025

The National Environment Agency (NEA) hereby wishes to inform the general public that the next National Cleanup Day is scheduled for Saturday 1st February, 2025 from 9am to 1pm.

In this regard, all National Assembly Members, Governors, Seyfos, Alkalos, Ward Councilors, Youth groups, Women Organizations and government institutions are being reminded that a Presidential Directive has been issued requiring all of them to organize and participate in the National Clean-up exercise within their respective areas of jurisdiction.

Consequently, there will be mass inspection of premises, markets, areas of business, etc. by inspectors from the NEA, the Gambia Police Force and other stakeholders immediately after the exercise and those found wanting would be prosecuted accordingly,

With about 20 days remaining till TikTok is effectively forced out of the U.S., President-elect Donald Trump is seemingly looking to make good on his campaign trail pledge to save the app. Trump has filed a brief urging the Supreme Court to pause a law that would ban TikTok the day before his January 20 inauguration if it is not sold by its Chinese owner, ByteDance. This puts him at odds with the Biden administration, which defended the ban due to national security concerns.
