Salikenni Alkaloship

Alh. Baba Marico Dibba is the new Alkalou of Salikenni, he was confirmed yesterday 22nd February, 2025. in a meeting attended by the Chief of Central Badibou Alhaige Jange where the official handing over of Village Stamp and all the symbol of Alkalou was given to him.

Our readership could recalled that Alh. Sheriffo Dibba was initially recognized by the Dibba K***a Kabilo as the elder in line of succession and Alh. Baba Marico Dibba was the caretaker Alkalo, since Alh Sheriffo Dibba is resident in Kombo. This has now changed as Alh. Baba Marico Dibba is now confirmed as the Alkalo of Salikenni.

We wish Alh. Baba Marico Dibba all the best and the community of Salikenni. May Allah preserve him and make the running of village affairs easy for him.

Obituary Announcement

It's with great sadness we announce the death of our beloved mother, sister and Aunty; SARIBANDING MANKA TRAWALLEY Known by many as SANKA this evening 12th February 2025 at EFSTH Banjul.

The burial will be held in Salikenni tomorrow 13th Feb. 2025 .
SANKA is a phenomenal woman who is always at the front line for community development and she is good at what she does.
We prayed that Allah have mercy on her soul and grant her Janatul Firdausi Amen.

𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐈 𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐂 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑-𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍.

The annual Inter-House sports competition of Salikenni Lower and Upper Basic School was successfully held today, 16th January 2025, with an atmosphere of excitement and unity. This eagerly awaited event brought together students, staff, and members of the Salikenni Talent and Academic Promotion Association (STAPA), creating a day filled with memorable moments.

𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁:

A standout moment of the competition was the 4×100m relay race, which featured thrilling participation from STAPA members, the Red Cross, and the teaching staff. The ex-students, representing STAPA, demonstrated remarkable teamwork and speed, emerging victorious to loud cheers from the crowd.

The four houses Orange, Blue, Red, and Green competed fiercely across various events, including track races, field events, and team sports. The students displayed extraordinary potential, proving that with the right support and opportunities, they could compete at national and international levels.

Final Results and Points
After an intense day of competition, the final standings were as follows:

1. 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲: 449 points (1st place)

2. 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲: 446 points (2nd place)

3. 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲: 423 points (3rd place)

4. 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲: 338 points (4th place)

𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀:

Orange House triumphed over Blue House by a narrow margin of 3 points.

Blue House secured a lead of 23 points over Red House.

Red House maintained a comfortable gap of 85 points ahead of Green House.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:

The 2024-2025 Inter-House sports competition was a resounding success, highlighting the unity and sportsmanship within Salikenni Lower and Upper Basic School. Congratulations to Orange House for their hard fought victory and to all houses for their spirited performances.

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

As representatives of the Salikenni Talent and Academic Promotion Association, we urge the school administration to continue providing resources and training to support these talented young athletes. Salikenn annual Quranic Recitation and GAMO is scheduled to take place on 8th February 2025.

Sheikh ALH. OMAR Ceesay is honoured to lead the Islamic Scholars in this year GAMO.

Sheikh Yankuba Nyando and prominent scholars across the country will converge in Salikenni to pray for the Muslim around the world.

Alh. Sheriffo Dibba is the New Alkalou of Salikenni Village

After the demise of Late Alkalo Alh. Bakawsu Dibba on 15th November, 2024, the traditional cultural values dictates that the elder son from Walinmang Dibba lineage among the Dibba's should serve as succession after the 40 days charity.

The Council of Elders led by Ceesay K***a who held the Imamship led the coronation ceremony on Tuesday, 31st December, 2024 at Salikenni Village.
The new Alkalou Sheriffo Dibba, a retired civil servant, is a Son of Alh Saikouba Njie Dibba, who served as Alkalou and Chief from (1938 to 1940), Alh Saikouba is the Son of Alh. Bully Dibba who also served as Alkalou and Chief of Central Badibou District.

The new Alkalou is currently resident in Kombo Tabokoto, and generously handover the caretaker position to Alh. Baba Marico Dibba who will be assisted by Lamin Fatouding Dibba.

We pray that Allah preserve him and guide him running the affairs of the Salikenni Village.

Why does Gambian not care anymore, why nobody is talking, why our television, radio's and media house are all mute, what's wrong with our foreign affairs and the government, the activist, Musicians our preacher everyone is mute 🤐.

In just two weeks more than two hundred Gambian citizens died in the Mediterranean sea from Tunisia, hundreds of hundred are missing but no one cares, why my heart is always broken, why I am always in tears.

Father's, mother's and wife's are calling me everyday and night crying because of their love once are missing or gone forever. Why can we join our hands together to do something to stop this Mass grave 🪦 in the sea,

I couldn't speak anymore I am just a broken guy, I'm weak I don't even know what to do or say let's me go and concentrate in my life before I will get frustrated because of the things I am seeing and hearing everyday about Gambia migrants and sub Sahara African migrants.

It's with great regret that we announce the death of six (6) young men from Salikenni who died in the Mediterranean sea after their boat from Tunisia to Italy sank.

These young men are part 53 Gambian immigrants who died from the incident.
Their names are;

1. Ebrima Kassama (son of Pateh Kassama)
2. Muhammed Lamin Danso (Son of Jabangho Danso)
3. Bubacar kassama ( Son of Sambou Fanta and Satou Binta)
4. Lamin Kassama (Son of Bubading Kassama)
5. Lamin Ceesay ( Grandson of Baba Barrow)
6. Bubacarr Ceesay (From Dalaba Serekunda)

We pray that Allah grant them Janatul Firdausi and grant their parents Sabr's in this difficult time.

We extend this national tragedy to the people of Salikenni, North Bank Region, and the entire Gambian people.

Celebrating Our Own Lamin Dibba!

Lamin Dibba was born and bred in Salikenni. He went on to acquire Bachelors, and Masters degree in Economics, from top universities in Türkiye.

Since his return, he has interned at The Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs. He has also worked at Gambia Participates as an Economist. He is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of The Gambia.

Lamin is the Founder and Executive Head of Center for Budget and Macroeconomic Transparency - CBMT and he has been leading the breakdown of the National Budget for the general public, training of National Assembly members, key stakeholders both Local and International Forums.

He’s becoming a familiar face at KERR FATOU brunch show where he represents CBMT to breakdown complex economic terms and the policy direction of the Gambia Government.

In his recent appearance on the Brunch Show, he faced the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affair of the Gambia, and other panelists. Their discussions centered on Macro Economic factors and policy's direction including the recycling of famous Senegambia Bridge and Budget 2025.

Join us in celebrating this BRILLIANT Economist who is creating awareness about our national budget.

We have received confirmed information that Karanta Touray was in one of the missing boat 🚢 in the Mediterranean sea.

Karanta is originally from Badibou Banni and he was a student of Late Mullah Alhaige Saikouba Kalleh May Allah have mercy on his soul.

We prayed that Allah grant him Janatul Firdausi and all those who couldn't make it.

Our prayers and thoughts with his Family in Banni and those in Salikenni.
