WASSCE RESULTS: 70% OF GAMBIAN CANDIDATES HAVE FAILED; ONLY 605 CANDIDATES OUT OF 15, 360 PASSED
In announcing the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2022, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has said 15, 360 candidates have registered for the examination with a decrease of 5.38% over the previous year's entry figure of 16, 234 candidates.
Gambian candidates have registered in 32 subjects which incuded English Language, Mathematics and a host of Science, Arts, Commerce, Technical and Vocational subjects.
Six hundred and five (605) candidates (3.9) obtaned credit passes in five subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
Fourteen thousand seven hundred and fifty-five thousand (14,755) candidates out of the registered 15, 360 candidates have failed the WASSCE examination, a whopping 70%.
On a gender basis, 316 (5.00%) male candidates had five credit passes and above in which English Language and Mathematics are included, while 289 (3.20%) female candidates had five credits and above in which English Language and Mathematics are included.
