🚨24-year-old Jerome Ruben allegedly wore fake breasts, a dress, and a hijab while carrying out a bank robbery on the University of Houston campus.
Ruben was arrested on Friday, January 9, after investigators tracked him leaving his apartment. He was stopped in traffic and taken into custody by the Harris County Violent Persons Task Force.
Law enforcement sources say Ruben was driving the same vehicle used to flee the TDECU bank robbery that occurred two days earlier on January 7 at the University of Houston.
During the traffic stop, investigators reportedly found a large amount of cash inside the vehicle. Officers also recovered a black hijab and a black dress, items believed to have been worn during the robbery.
A bank employee told police the suspect appeared to be wearing fake breasts, which investigators believe was used as a disguise to avoid identification.
Ruben appeared before a judge on Monday and was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. His bond for that charge was set at $2 million.
In a separate case, Ruben has also been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a cash store in Baytown, along with other violent felony charges, according to court documents.
Bond for the additional charges was set at $3 million, bringing Ruben’s total bond to $5 million.
