THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

[5] Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility], [6] who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes—the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it] - Philippians‬ ‭2:5‭-‬6‬ ‭AMP‬‬

- We did the verse 5 last Saturday but for clarity sake we have added it to the verse 6 so we are actually looking at the verse 6.
- Jesus was God from before creation, was still God during creation, and continues to be God from everlasting to everlasting.
- In ‭‭John‬ ‭10:30‬ Jesus states emphatically "I and the Father are One" - in essence and nature
- He has always been God but of His own will and out of love for humanity which He was part in creating decided to become like us and come to our level in order to set for us a pattern for this earthly life and to draw us close to God.
- Having drawn us that close are we sure we are keeping that closeness and relationship expected of us?

MONDAY, 12/02/24

[1]Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
[2]The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
[3]His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
[4]He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
[5]He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.
[6]He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen.
[7]The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.
[8]They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.
[9]He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
[10]The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility] - Philippians‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

‭‭Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]- Philippians‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

- Reading the same scripture twice in different versions what is running through your mind already?
- Is Paul being real? Is the command a possibility?
- Was Christ a man like us?
- Can we have the same attitude He had?
- Can we be that humble never to answer in the face of the strongest provocation?
- I've had some friends who say while you think good also be thinking evil - Do you share the same view?
- Do you sincerely have the same purpose Christ had?
- ‭‭Do you realize it's not easy for the Bible to say "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God"? - Hebrews‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

[3] In the way that you live, do not just try to help yourself. Do not be proud. Instead, respect other people. Think about other people as more important than yourself. [4] Do not think only about the things that you want to do for yourself. Each of you should think also about how you can help other people - Philippians‬ ‭2:3‭-‬4‬ ‭EASY‬‬

- Please be mindful that we are still trying to understand the topic "The Spirit Of The Fear Of The Lord"
- Are you Proud?
- Do you Respect other people who may or may not be just like you when it comes to your standards?
- Do you think, consider, treat other people as more important than yourself? - Be truthful here.
- If you have an item or let's say money which you will need say in a week's time and someone not too close a friend comes to beg you earnestly for the exact thing not knowing that you have it, will you be able to give it out?
- Can you design your budget such that you take care of the needy either monthly or at certain intervals?
- Have you ever thought to yourself that that needy person should also go and look for a better job to do?
- Finally for now, Have you ever thought that the work or business you are doing now can collapse one day and that you could become like that needy person? Hmmmm

- What is your way of life?
- Do you acknowledge the fact that God created you and gave you this life you have?
- After creating you He could have destroyed you if He changed His mind concerning you so He could create a different person - would you have questioned Him why He did that?
- Now that He's made you and given you this life you have, how are you leading your life?
- Paul is making you understand that this life you have is not just about you, yourself and yours.
- It's about that person living on the street somewhere, struggling to make ends meet so deciding to become your house help, who if you help today will end up saving the life of your child tomorrow - Have you thought of that?
- Do you know the work you are doing today is because someone will need your help tomorrow and that God has destined YOU ALONE to be the one to go to his/her aid?
- Christians of today are more wicked than any group of people you can think about, meanwhile God created us to live for one another.

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

[1] You belong to Christ, and he makes you brave. His love makes you strong. You are able to help one another because his Spirit is in you. You can be kind to each other, and you can forgive each other. [2] Because of that, this is how you can make me completely happy: In your mind, think about things in the same way as one another. Love one another completely. In your spirit, agree with one another. And work together for the same purpose - Philippians‬ ‭2:1‭-‬2‬ ‭EASY‬‬

- We used New Living Translation Bible yesterday and today we are using Easy Bible. In case you need some other versions of the bible please get in touch with the person who sent you the Devotional so I can send you the link.
- After accepting Christ as your Saviour and making Him your Lord how has His love impacted yours and what are you doing better now?
- Spiritually, Emotionally, Physically and Socially how many lives have you touched and how many people have been blessed because of you?
- In the church or fellowship where you are, are there people who attend because of you?
- In the absence of your pastor, group leader, etc are you a true Christ-like person who Christ can boast of?
- I was in a certain meeting over the weekend and the kind of comments made about some fellow Christians were not encouraging at all.

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

[1] Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? [2] Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose - Philippians‬ ‭2:1‭-‬2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

- Last week Saturday we had the privilege of reading Philippians 2:12-18 and promised that if God allowed, we would try and do a breakdown this week.
- In attempting to breakdown we are starting from verse one for a clear understanding as we get along
- I don't know if you were born into a Christian home as we say at times; but even if you were, between your childhood and the time you became mature what was and has been your encouragement for belonging to Christ?
- If you accepted Christ as you grew up in life, between that old you and the new you what was and has been your encouragement?

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

[12] Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. [14] Do all things without murmurings and disputings: [15] that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; [16] holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. [17] Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. [18] For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me - Philippians‬ ‭2:12‭-‬18‬ ‭

- I don't know what God would have us do next week if He allows to be alive. If He permits us we'll look more into this scripture.

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, irreverently, in false affirmations or in ways that impugn the character of God]; for the Lord will not hold guiltless nor leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain [disregarding its reverence and its power] - ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

- Some people have taken God so lightly that at times while playing and from nowhere they just swear in the name of God.
- There are others also who even when lying in the teeth still swear in the name of God.
- These days it's commonplace to find most Christian Politicians, Government Appointees and all others swearing in the name of God to be truthful and loyal to the people they are coming to serve meanwhile they know from their hearts they won't keep their vows.
- Right in the house of God we find ministers and church officials during ordination and commissioning services making all sorts of vows in the name of ceremony - Can we just take the name of the Lord for granted? Hmmmmm
- Let us be careful with the words coming out of our mouths and remember.........

‭‭THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation - James‬ ‭5:12‬ ‭

[33] Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: [34] but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: [35] nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. [36] Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. [37] But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil - ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:33‭-‬37‬

***Are you mindful of what comes out of your mouth? Do you remember Jesus said "Out Of The Abundance Of The Heart The Mouth Speaks"?***

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

[35] [Some] women received again their dead by a resurrection. Others were tortured to death with clubs, refusing to accept release [offered on the terms of denying their faith], so that they might be resurrected to a better life. [36] Others had to suffer the trial of mocking and scourging and even chains and imprisonment. [37] They were stoned to death; they were lured with tempting offers [to renounce their faith]; they were sawn asunder; they were slaughtered by the sword; [while they were alive] they had to go about wrapped in the skins of sheep and goats, utterly destitute, oppressed, cruelly treated– [38] [Men] of whom the world was not worthy–roaming over the desolate places and the mountains, and [living] in caves and caverns and holes of the earth. [39] And all of these, though they won divine approval by [means of] their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised, [40] Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us, so that they [these heroes and heroines of faith] should not come to perfection apart from us [before we could join them] - Hebrews‬ ‭11:35‭-‬40‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

- Very sorry to replace this Amplified Classic version of scripture with the promise I gave you yesterday.
- I just realized there's NO WAY I can talk on this scripture without becoming emotional and that will take a lot of space.
- Let's stop being hypocrites and rather let our FEAR OF GOD be sincere before God.
- Most of us Christians are too fake and we are behaving as if God doesn't see us behind the scenes. STOP THAT if you are part.
***As you go through this weekend the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace in Jesus name. Let's link up on Monday God willing***

[35] Women received their dead by a resurrection: and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: [36] and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: [37] they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they were slain with the sword: they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated [38] (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves, and the holes of the earth. [39] And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, received not the promise, [40] God having provided some better thing concerning us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect - Hebrews‬ ‭11:35‭-‬40‬ ‭

- If you happened to be part of these giants of faith who so feared God and went through all that and still stood, would you have ended still a Christian?
