WHAT LIES AHEAD OF US? (III)
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21)

Good evening dear one. Trust you are faring well? 
Today, we look at the another episode of What Lies Ahead of Us.

The truth about life is, unless it is revealed to you, no one knows what the future holds for them. The best we can do is hope at it.

The beautiful thing is that, the Creator, Inventor and Orchestrator of the Universe, knows what was, is and will be. This includes your life and what He has for you.

As Proverbs 19:21 says, Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. 
Again, in Jeremiah 29:11, the Bible says
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God promises a good future and a hope for that future. What we have to do is to trust in Him and work towards what He has for us.
We have to let him lead the way and show us how to follow Him.

Most times, we don’t see the bigger picture and so it tends to cloud our judgements and impede our thoughts.

A scenario is made of a dog owner who sends his dog to the veterinary doctor to be vaccinated. The owner has a good intent - to make the dog strong, healthy and disease resistant. But because the dog is going through the pain of vaccination, it has it at the back of the mind that the owner is wicked and causing it to suffer whiles he just looks on. In the long run and in the bigger picture, it is for the dog’s good. 

The bible says in Romans 8:18 that “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us”.

There is a glory ahead of us, there’s victory and a future. Let’s have hope and walk in the way of the Lord towards it. For He has great things lying ahead for us.

WHAT LIES AHEAD OF US? (II)

So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them
2 Kings 6:16

Trust you’re doing well, dear one.
As the second part of our lesson from last week, we want to look at how to handle issues beyond our control.

It is human nature to get perturbed, anxious and fearful when situations and circumstances seem to be out of our control. It is a natural response. We either respond by fight or flight - or sometimes freeze, when we don’t know what to do in the face of troubling encounters. 

A similar thing happened in the life of Elisha and his servant Gehazi. When the king of Syria tried to ambush Elisha with his army raid, Gehazi became frightened and confronted his master. In the face of a great army of men with horses and chariots, all Gehazi could do was to respond naturally as anyone will even though he had seen the numerous miracles the Lord had done through his master Elisha. We all get to that point in our lives when we get so overwhelmed by situations that we can’t seem to think of a better way to see ourselves out of the circumstance. We get crippled or frozen sometimes to the point of dropping dead mentally - or to the point of contemplating to end one’s life.

But the encouragement is, don’t focus on what is happening to you now. It may look frightening, disheartening and endangering but we must look with a different set of eyes. We must see how the Lord wants us to see. You will say shouldn’t I think of the reality on the grounds? Yes! The reality on the grounds is, you are not seeing the bigger picture. You are not seeing what is ahead of you. The word of God tells us in Romans 8:6 to be spiritually minded.

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6).

What does that mean? Visualising things the way God sees and has made them. In the case of Elisha and Gehazi, Elisha was seeing from a different angle what Gehazi was not envisaging.

He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

 The spiritual reality is, Elisha and Gehazi weren’t alone, they had an army to combat that of the Syrians. It takes the mind set on God to know and see what He has prepared for His children.

But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 1 Corinthians 2:9,10

The Lord has a lot for you. Don’t let what you’re seeing and currently experiencing blind and numb you to not appreciate what God actually has in store for you. 
May the Lord help us experience the best He has for us each and every day of our lives.

WHAT LIES AHEAD OF US?

Ever made plans and had them cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances or challenges beyond your control?
Have you ever felt powerless over life’s presenting conditions and occurrences in your life?

It’s happened to me before - when your plans go out of order and you have to go with the present. It is easy to pen down plans, make up schedules and put down ideas for ex*****on but what we must not forget is, we need the hand of the Lord to help us carry out all we purpose.

It is good to plan and prepare, but it is better to let God have the upper hand in your decisions.

Apostle James gives a profound revelation concerning taking things into our own hands in James 4:13-16:

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil

Planning without factoring God in is like boasting of your own ability. Let’s know that it is God who controls life and also protects from the schemes of the evil one. Let’s never fail to acknowledge His will daily in our lives. Only God knows what lies ahead of us and He can better lead us.
