The movie “Queen of Akra” brings renewed hope for our people. To see an indigenous GaDangme story in one of our dialects is refreshing. The story of Dode Akaabi is one that gives key insights into the evolution of the GaDangme polity. This is not just a GaDangme story, it is a Ghanaian story. We are fortunate in our generation to be able to situate such history in our times. It is interesting to note that a relation descendant of that famed ancient queen is currently the paramount queen mother of the Awutu (Obutu) state. She bears the regal name Naakye Dode Akaabi XIV
I pray that from Obutu to Ada shwilao, we continue to tell our own story. Omanye
