BECOME ONLINE ARTIST (DIGITAL ARTIST)
If you're an emerging/ upcoming artist, You have to choose to become an online artist (digital artist) and focus on marketing your music online
And doing your music business online and getting money online than becoming a show Artist.
Because most show organizers don't pay upcoming Artists even if they do is just for appreciation.

Focus on getting your music to streaming sites and market the links of your music to these streaming sites.

Focus also on gaining more fans online by doing good music. You can do shows once in a while if necessary but focus more online.

LYRICS
The lyrics(pen game) must be of a very high dexterity. It should fascinate the ear and spin minds into high subconscious dimensions.

VOICE

MELODIES
Your melodies must be very enticing and touching.

DAY 6
Topic:
HOW TO MAKE MONEY FROM MUSIC AS AN UPCOMING ARTIST OR INDEPENDENT ARTIST ASIDE SHOWS OR ROYALTIES FROM MUSIC STREAMING.

(Advice and practical steps to doing music full time and gaining sustainable income)

Apart from making money from shows or from music streaming royalties, If you want to survive in the music industry as singer or rapper you need to acquire a skill in the music industry to be able to stay in the industry.

A lot of upcoming artists only know how to sing or rap which is not fetching money these days unless you're well established artists.

Some upcoming artists/independent artist think it is only through shows or sales/royalties from digital music platforms that they can make money.

The music industry has evolved so must you as an upcoming artist or independent artist.

If you're passionate about doing music and using the music to sustain yourself, feed yourself and run your life then you need to acquire one or two important and key skills in the music industry that automatically generates money, whether the music sells or not.

The skills that you need to acquire alongside your singing and rapping to make money as a musician are:

1. Beat making and selling of beats or learn music production on a whole. You can start with FL Studio(beat making and music production software)
Just imagine the money you've been paying to studio engineers, what about becoming an engineer yourself and producing other upcoming artists and using the money to invest in your singing or rapping career

2. Graphic design for music cover art design
This skill is also an essential skill to the backbone of the music industry. You can't release a song without a cover art. The quicker you start learning this skill needed to design cover arts the better your chances of surving and sustaining yourself in the industry.

4. Online Music journalism popularly known as music blogging.
I mean blogging about artists and their music, music news and music marketing and promotion. You better start that blog now if you have good writing skills and good digital communication skills.

6. Learn music video making.
A lot of upcoming artists need cheap music videos for their music. You can make tons of money if you have this skill and can leverage upon it
This one is obvious for you to accept that it' is significance to the thriving of the music industry.

8. Artist Management or record label or management.
A lot of upcoming artists need management. If you've been in the industry for a long time and has a lot of experience in the music scene you can start a small record label or artist management entity.

9. Use Your Popularity as a musician to start a merch business.
You can start a t-shirt merchandise or cap or hoodies merchandise business by capitalizing on your popularity as a musician and use that popularity to promote and sell your merchandise.
It just like starting a clothing brand for your music brand.

10. Bonus Advice: You can also become music event organiser or promoter by organizing music shows or talent shows and make money from sponsors or ticket sales.
There you have it. To be able to do music and linger in the industry you need the skills I've mentioned and talked about. They are practical ways of earning realistic and sustainable money as an upcoming artist who is looking forward to doing music business full time as shows money and music streaming royalties don't come everyday.

DAY 3
TOPIC:
HOW TO TREAT YOUR MUSIC AS A BUSINESS AND PUSH IT THE RIGHT WAY FOR RESULTS

To make it in the music industry you need to treat your music as a business. And to treat it as a business you need money to run it. Now it's not about how talented you are as an artist, it's about having money to push your music. And also making money out of the music.

You have to see it as a business where you got to make profit. And in order to make profit, you must invest in it.

The fast rising artists and the like, if they tell you how much they invest in their music you will marvel.

Here are some ways to treat your music as business and push it the right way for results.

1. INVEST IN THE ART

Music is an art. You must put out the best and most creative form of the music art. Invest in the beat, invest in the cover art, invest in the music video, invest in the promo. Invest in social media photos and live videos. And every artistic side of the music. Don't put in the public domain any low quality produced music, invest in the production, the beat is very important, the mixing, arrangement and Mastering must be dope. Don't forget to also shoot high quality and dope music videos, invest in good music directors. Do high quality and stunning cover arts. Don't do any cheap stuff and expect good returns on your music.

2. INVEST IN BLOGGERS AND PLAYLIST CURATORS AND DIGITAL MUSIC PROMOTION

Bloggers and playlist curators these days have replaced DJs because now the music is more digital and it's more online driven than the turn table driven.

I will advice you invest in playlist curators than DJs because it is through the work of the playlist curators that the DJs even discover artists or new music to play on radio. Online streaming charts now determine what's played elsewhere in the real world. You should invest in digital music promotion and marketing.

3. CUSHION THE GATEKEEPERS

It's not about punch lines or dope lines and metaphors anymore. It's about cushioning the gate keepers. Punchlines and metaphors are still required but dope music without promotion is like doing business in the dark. The gatekeepers have bills to pay and what they do is their professional work. You must pay for their services. When you take this seriously you will thrive more in the music industry.

You need to cushion the pockets of the the DJs, the bloggers, the social media influencers, the playlist curators, the influencers, the beat makers etc,

4. WACK MUSIC THRIVES BECAUSE THOSE BEHIND IT UNDERSTAND THE BUSINESS SIDE OF MUSIC LIKE MARKETING AND PROMOTION SO YOU MUST ALSO UNDERSTAND MARKETING EVEN IF YOU ARE TALENTED.

Wack music is selling these days than dope music. Because those behind the wack music understand it's business side of music and they invest in it.

5. GET MORE BUSINESS MINDED, THOUGH ARTISTIC SIDE OF MUSIC IS IMPORTANT

Becoming more business minded whiles doing the music than relying on the artistic side of it is also key to success in the music industry. You can be a dope rapper, have good videos and good music, good lyrics but you need to monetize your music more. You should not be playing free shows or events. You should also take publishing and copyright stuff seriously and doing it right. You must also be smart and sign only good and lucrative deals, whether it's a record deal or brand endorsement or whatever. You should also take advantage of your music and fame and make a business out of it like starting a clothing brand or merchandise. Or using your name to set up business which will capitalize on your fame to thrive. If you are an upcoming artist you can set up a fashion boutique, a barber shop, a sports bar, a recording studio or record label whiles you are at the peak of your career and famous.

You can be skilled but you also need to look at the business side of the music. We can relate with Jay Z and Nas. Jay-Z was about the business side whiles Nas was focusing more on the artistic Side. Artistic side of music is good but ignoring the business side of it is bad. You must blend the two together to have a greater amount of success in the music industry.

6. CONSIDER YOUR MUSIC AS A JOB

Music is also a work. You need to feed from your work, and you need to make money to break bread and also maintain your life from your work. And you must see your music as a professional work, job and business.

WRAP-UP

Being talented doesn't take you far if you don't consider your music as a business. Take it serious. Invest in it. Also when you get the fame capitalize on the fame and make money out of the fame by venturing into something that will generate more income. Be business minded. Treat your music as as a business and it will take you far in achieving financial fulfillment and success. Music is all about blowing up, it's a job and every job requires pay, so let your music pay well.

Think about it.

DAY 5
TOPIC:
HOW TO WRITE DOPE LYRICS OR DOPE SONGS

Are you struggling with your music. Do you find it hard to write dope songs or lyrics. Here are 6 tips to guide you through how to craft dope songs.

1. Listen to the music of your godfather (mentor) in music.

The artist you admire most and wish to be like should be on rotation on your playlist 24/7. You will derive a lof of inspiration to write dope lyrics or songs and master crafting fly lyrics with punch and dexterity.

2. Read the lyrics of your God father's music like a dictionary and Bible everyday.

While listening to the songs of your favorite artist. Google the lyrics and read along while the song plays. You will learn the rhyme structure and flow sequence, wordplay and metaphor bliss of how the song is crafted.

3. Mimick the lyrics style of the Artist you admire (your godfather) who you aspire to be.

If the artist you admire and aspire to be like talking about money or hustling, making it in life and living an uplife. You too when writing your lyrics talk about similar things in your music. By this way you will sound great and fly with your music because those are the things adored by his fans and people will adore you for such wordplay. We are not talking about copying his style or lyrics but we are talking about using your godfather's music as a reference to guide your music style.

4. Read Hustle Quotes.

You will get a lot of lyrical content and command a great lyrical prowess if you read hustle quotes. Hustle quotes are wise sayings about Hustling and all things hustle. You know a lot of people are going through a lot of struggles which is the hustle.
So talking about such things in your songs will make your song dope and people are going to like your music. A perfect place to get dope hustle quotes is Google and pinterest.

5. Your lyrics theme should be about prosperity and making it.

A lot of people are struggling to make it in life. If you want your lyrics to be considered dope, you should inspire by singing or rapping about how everyone who is going through struggles will one day prosper and will make it and should never give up.

6. Sing or rap about money and how one day or soon every ghetto youth and all those hustling will make that money.

You know this life is all about the paper and nothing else. Your music and lyrics will be dope if it's centered around making money and living a better life. People will connect with those lyrics more than singing or rapping and bragging about how good you are in your punch lines and rhymes.

6. Motivate people to chase their dreams and never give up.

If you want your lyrics or songs to be dope write about how you are chasing your dreams and ambitions and also inspire people to chase their ambitions and never give up because one day they will make it. There gotta be a prosperity message in your lyrics or songs. People will jam to your music and love your music the more.

Those are most creative ways to craft fly lyrics and dope songs especially if you are a rapper.

7 Days Training by Rapboysdistro Africa on How to manage yourself as an upcoming artist or independent artist

DAY 1

TOPIC:
How To Make It In The Music Industry As An Upcoming Artist or Independent Artist
HOW TO MAKE IT IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AS AN UPCOMING ARTIST OR INDEPENDENT ARTIST

To make it in the music industry is not easy. Your passion must be stronger than your talent. Your will must be stronger than your skill in order to succeed. You must work as twice as hard than established artists.

Your passion should motivate your drive to keep going no matter the obstacles on the way. The journey to stardom is not for the fairly obsessed, it is for the die hard artists who believe the only way to make it is to keep working hard and perfecting their art and craft and doing what is right and necessary to achieve success.

Don't give up, keep pushing. The following are some considerations to guide you on your journey to blowing up if you truly want to make it in the music industry.

1. YOU NEED TO DO SERIOUS AND CONSISTENT MARKETING FOR YOUR MUSIC

Your music doesn't suck. It's just lacking in the marketing department. If you really want to make it in the music industry you need to take marketing of your music seriously. There are free platforms on the web to upload your music for fans to listen and share but that's not enough. You need some reasonable amount of money to push the music. radio promotion, online promotion on blogs. playlist curators promotion. music video making and promotion and whole lot of music promotion work.

These days music is not for broke artists or for talented but poor artists. It's for those who have the talent and money to push their music career. So if you're not able to invest money then making it in the music industry will be hard. You can take a side hustle job and use the income to support your music career. Aside having to market your music you must have a music marketing plan or strategy to achieve your marketing goals.

2. YOU MUST DO MUSIC VIDEOS

Music videos are great and fascinating ways to get your music heard and transcend borders into other countries. Music videos are also great for connecting with your fans and also a smart way of acquiring new fans. You can also use the video for monetization on YouTube. If you're thinking about making it small or big you will need a music video to achieve that.

3. YOU NEED DOPE BEATS AND DOPE MUSIC PRODUCERS TO MAKE IT

The music industry is saturated and to separate yourself from the saturation you need dope beats to ride on for your music. Dope beats require dope producers. With this you can achieve a ton of success in the music industry. Dope beats don't just work the magic, you also need dope bars or hooks to make that dope beat drive success for you in the music industry. Stop riding on wacky beats just because you can't afford dope stuffs or don't have access to the resources to make dope stuff.

4. LEARN ABOUT MUSIC PUBLISHING AND COPYRIGHTS

The music industry is revolved around publishing and copyright. A great deal of music income comes from publishing and copyright. As an artist who wants to make it the industry you must get yourself educated on these aspects of music business. Music publishing deals with how music royalties splits or how royalties or money is shared or paid, percentages and the activities and business aspects of music income generation and payment . It also involves how to license your music, get or own copyright of your music, owning your music masters and all things publising rights. You can learn more about music publishing using Google.

5. GET A HOME STUDIO

Home studios are great tools to enhance your music career. By owning a home studio you can work on your music anytime inspiration comes. You will have time to do several takes when recording and pick the best take for the production. Having a home studio saves you the hustle of spending money on studio bookings. You can invite dope beat producers and mixers to work on your track at the comfort of your home. You will also create music at a rate you want instead of waiting to travel to a different studio elsewhere to record. There so many benefits of a home studio. And to make it in the music industry having a home studio is a good music investment.

6. YOU NEED TO WRITE GOOD SONGS

Aside having the money to push your music career, and doing all the things I've talked about you need good songs with great lyrics content to thrive. So spend time writing dope lyrics and developing good lyrical content for your songs. It will make a great deal in achieving success in your music career and making it in the music industry.

7. YOU NEED TO BE TALENTED

The most obvious quality you need to possess to achieve a chunk of the music success is talent. If you don't have talent people are not going to stream or buy your music. Besides talent is not enough. You need to put in much work to project and showcase your talent in a way that people will appreciate and recognize your talent. You need talent but you need to know how to optimize your talent and make it in the industry.

8. YOU MUST KNOW OR LEARN HOW TO MAKE MONEY FROM MUSIC

Money is one motivational factor or drive for doing music. Every artist want to blow up. But how do you make money in music. You must learn or explore various way of making money from music: concert ticket sales, live shows, entertainment deals, royalties from music are some traditional ways of making money from music. These sources of income are well known but it's hard to make it through these sources if you are not a well established artist. But as an independent artist or upcoming artist you can explore various ways of making money. You can venture into music blogging, blogging about your life as a musician and blogging about your music and the music industry. You can monetize this through ads and selling merchandise on your blog. You can also start a digital music distribution record label. Or monetize your music through YouTube. You can also go into selling merchandise out of your music brand. You can start a clothing brand or fashion boutique. You must learn and practice all these ways of making money in music. Together the money generated through all these alternative means form a bigger revenue.
