When I entered the BBC News Africa office in Nairobi, I immediately recalled the Ghana External Broadcasting Service, created in 1961 as a wing of the Ghana Broadcasting Service (GBC).

The GBC External Service was established by the government of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah to cover African stories from an African standpoint. You see, the Osagyefo understood the power of information in building the African personality to wage a final battle against the instruments of imperialism. The onslaught of propaganda and psychological warfare in the Service of colonialism and neo-colonialism needed to be countered by an elaborate information dissemination program by Africans, for Africans within the context of Pan-Africanism. The External Service was broadcasting in Swahili, Hausa, English, French and Arabic with plans to incorporate Spanish and Portuguese to reach the African peoples in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Americas.

The overthrow of Nkrumah’s government in 1966 was the end of this and today GBC is struggling to even do nationwide broadcasting within Ghana well. But beyond Ghana the collapse of the External Service has had a devastating impact on our agenda of coming together because little is known by us about us. That is to say what happens in neighbouring Togo or Benin hardly features in Ghanaian media and vice versa. At most African media source their news from imperialist propaganda networks who define for us what the agenda ought to be in the interest of their own countries.

Africa Must Unite. We unite or we perish.

ghanaian blogger sammy kay has been arrested and handed over to the criminal investigations department (cid) of the ghana police service for publishing sexually explicit images and the unlawful use of images of a cyber security authority official.

last week, a sexually explicit video of socialite abena korkor was circulated online.

responding, abena korkor accused two people of being behind the sexually explicit video she was seen in and claimed she sent it to only two people.

abena korkor mentioned that one of the said people she suspected for circulating her video was a security official linked to the cyber crime office at the ghana police service.

on wednesday morning (nov 15, 2023) another sexually explicit video was circulated on social media with the tagging that, it was in reference to the said security officer that abena mentioned.

it is based on this that sammy kay also reportedly published the said images and linked it to some images of the cyber security authority (csa) official.

Atiavi needed to have a parish as the church grew, which was a necessity. The authorities clearance of the appeals and consultations took some time.A much larger space in a strategic location was needed to begin construction of a larger chapel and priests' house after receiving authorisation to work towards elevating the church to a higher status.

The school garden on the adjacent grounds to the Agbodekor R.C. school came to mind. The church elders consequently gave Mr.E.K. Mensah the order to explore the possibilities of securing the piece of land from the Glime Tsili family, who are the custodians.

Napoleon Awumee, the late Rose Adzaklo, and Seme Zowonoo were part of the group that Mr. E.K. Mensah sent to the Tsili family in order to request the release of the land for the project. The delegation was led by Mr. Mathias Dorglo.On behalf of the Tsili family, the late George Voegbolor released the land in 1986 without any hesitation.

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 8:30 am, all roads will lead to St. Michael Catholic Church, which is close to 37 Hospital, for the anniversary launch of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Atiavi.

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has withdrawn from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential race.

He announced his decision in a press statement signed and issued Tuesday evening [September 5, 2023].

Mr Kyerematen wrote, "The question I keep asking myself is, How did we get here as a Party in the first place, and how far are we prepared to tread on this dangerous path to self-destruction?"

"Regrettably, I am not convinced that the circumstances I have referred to earlier, will not persist or even be escalated in the next round of elections, for which balloting is scheduled for Wednesday, 6th of September 2023.

"In light of the foregoing, I wish to confirm that I am honourably withdrawing from the process that will lead to the Presidential Primaries to be held on the 4th of November 2023. In the next upcoming weeks, I will provide an indication of the role that I will play in politics in Ghana, after consultations with my family and other well-wishers, various stakeholders and interest groups.

"I wish all the other Aspirants well as they continue on their journey. I also wish to use this opportunity to express my profound gratitude once again to my family, the Alan 4 President (A4P) Campaign Team, and all my teeming supporters in Ghana and from around the world, who have supported me in diverse ways over the years. Please be assured that the battle is still the Lord's, and that those who wait upon the Lord shall have their strength renewed."

The ECOWAS Military Intervention In The Gambia (ECOMIG) Force Commander (FC), Colonel (Col) Ousmane Aly Kane, has paid a maiden working day visit to Ghana Company 7 (GHANCOY 7) at Barra in the North Bank Region of the Gambia. The aim of the visit was to give the FC the opportunity to meet troops for the first time since deployment to familiarize with them. It was also to enable him acquaint himself with the Unit's operations, administration and challenges since taking over from GHANCOY 6.
In his Remarks, the FC expressed his delight in the familiarization with troops of the Unit. He said he was also thrilled by the efforts made by GHANCOY 7 in carrying out its operations relentlessly even in the face of impediments such as bad weather and the incapacities of friendly Security Agencies in executing Joint Operation with ECOMIG. Col OA Kane also commended GHANCOY 7 for its achievements in the area of Civil - Military Cooperation (CIMIC) and he encouraged troops to make CIMIC a priority in order to achieve the Mission mandate
