Singer apologises for reciting national anthem wrongly during police conference

Singer, Mercy Isoyip, aka Descushiel, has apologised to Nigerians and the Nigeria Police Force after reciting the national anthem wrongly during the Conference for Senior Police Officers in Imo State.

The singer, who donned the police uniform during the conference, went viral on Monday after she recited the national anthem at the event and missed the lyrics.

This led to knocks from the netizens as they trolled the singer, who was presumed to be a policewoman because of her outfit.

In a video on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Descushiel apologised for her errors.

The video was captioned, "I sincerely apologise for the error I made during the recital of the National Anthem, I know such errors are inexcusable.

"My good people of our country, please accept my apology, as well as my assurance that I will be more careful in the future to prevent such incidents from recurring.

"God bless the Nigeria Police Force. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

Hello tueh tueh, GLB NATION it's with so much pain I am typing this, the reason is that this boy really fought hard, he tried so hard, he gave death a tough time but death won at last, Mohbad was one of the young street boys who rose to stardom from the street of ikorodu, you know those days of making a freestyle and boom it goes viral online, here are some of his throwback videos of his early life,one way or the other his video freestyle video went viral, he got noticed and got signed to a record label named Marlian music owned by a certain Peckham druglord named Azeez fashola( Naira Marley) alongside Imole, Azeez signed other young artist too and e turning was going on smoothly in the record label, little did they know that there is more to just being in the record label and singing songs alone, since the record label is owned by a druglord, there are some certain sacrifices you need to do so as to stay relevant in the record label, first Is you are initiated into peddling of drugs, second is you will also take an oath of secrecy never to reveal things going on in the label, their boss who is now an ambassador to NDLEA trained them all and they were doing so well taking and peddling the drugs, then it got to level of secrecy oat and Mohbad refused, zino and some other artiste in the record label did all the necessary oat rites but Mohbad refused, they gave him time to have a rethink, during those time they sidelined him, the record label boss left him useless in the label but was promoting zino back to back, he even gave out one of his street sisters to zino make him Dey knack tnst one, that's why you see zino dropping hits and looking like a rag, his life is under the control of the label and he has can't even opt out, Mohbad started complaining that he needs promotion too that Naira can't be promoting zino alone and leave him hanging, that's the beginning of their fight, it was from one argument to another, he got worse that they go physical most time and Naira hates to be challenged so bad but Mohbad was always the only one challenging him in that label,aside his record label boys.

I congratulate Nigeria for the adoption of a Nigerian language, Yoruba, as a testing language for the Department of Motor Vehicles in the United States.

Similarly, since 2014, Selfridges and Harrods have been employing Yoruba-speaking staff, and the UK Metropolitan Police Service has been hiring Yoruba-speaking Constables and Officers since 2015.

Elsewhere, I have written about traversing the American continent and studying the staying power of Yoruba language and culture in the Americas. Enslaved people were taken from all over Africa, but ONLY the Yoruba language, culture, and traditional religion have collectively withstood the acculturation by European culture to become one of the most dominant cultures in the Americas and Caribbeans.

Yoruba Ifa-based Babalawo are very popular with Whites and Latinos in the Americas, and Santeria and Candomblé are two of the fastest growing religions in North and South America. They are both based on traditional Yoruba Ifa religion, mixed with Catholicism, with saints known as Orisa.

Even in modern times, music of Yoruba origin is rebranding Nigeria's image away from 419 and romance scams. For this, we thank those who set the table and laid the foundation, especially Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey.

Unsurprisingly, all of Nigeria's Grammy Award winners have been of Yoruba descent, except Burna Boy, including:

Sade Adu (1986), Babatunde Olatunji (1991), Sikiru Adepoju (1991) and Seal (1996), Burna Boy (2021), Wizkid (2021), Temilade Openiyi AKA Tems (2023).
