Ghana had zero marks for the fourth consecutive year in its fight against corruption, according to the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2023 released today, January 30, 2024, by Transparency International (TI).

The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), the local chapter of Transparency International in its report stated “Ghana scored 43 out of a clean score of 100 and ranked 70th out of 180 countries and territories included in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2023 released today, 30th January 2024 by Transparency International (TI). This marks the fourth consecutive year of stagnation in Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts, as indicated by the CPI.”

Transparency International attributed Ghana’s stagnation to the deteriorating justice system, which it says is reducing the accountability of public officials and therefore allowing corruption to thrive.

President of the Republic H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his best wishes to the Black Stars ahead of the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire 2023.

The 1st gentleman of the land joined players and the technical team for a farewell dinner at the team’s camp in Kumasi Tuesday night ahead of our departure for Abidjan on Wednesday.
President Akufo-Addo was accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif (Hon.), Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah (Hon.) and Hon. Seth Adjei Baah, Board Chairman of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and Vice President Mark Addo were on hand to welcome President of the Republic H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to the farewell dinner.
President Akufo-Addo tasked the players to believe in themselves and go into the tournament with the can do spirit, saying that It is possible to accomplish the long awaited dream of bringing home an AFCON trophy that has eluded Ghana for more than four decades.

Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed Omar will take charge of the opening 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) fixture between the host country and Guinea Bissau on Saturday.

The 39-year-old is not at his first international experience; he officiated during the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil in 2019.

The Egyptian will be supported by his Compatriots Mahmoud Ahmed Kamel and Ahmed Hossam Taha. Mahmoud Elbana has also appointed as the VAR referee of the match. BadwamSports
