NPP PARLIAMENTARY PRIMARIES
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has today Saturday the 27th of January 2024 as scheduled by the leadership of the party for their parliamentary primaries .
The election took place in almost all the constituencies across the lenght and breath of the country in exceptionals due to some reasons , has successfully come to an end.
A number of President Akuffo Addo's ministers have fallen flat by the New Patriotic Party delegates in the party's primaries.
Amidst the looses have been Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah , the Deputy minister of Health, Gifty Twum- Ampofo Deputy minister of Gender, Freda Prempeh, the Gender minister and Joseph Cudjoe, minister of public enterprises.
The incumbent member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Twum Ampofo lost to Nana Ampaw Addo Frempong aetr polling 202 votes to his 222 votes. The following are some of the results:
* Tano North - Prempeh 221 vvotes while Gideon Boako ( vice president's spokesperson) - 444 votes.
* Atiwa West - Laurette Korkor Asante polled 177 votes to win the primaries and replace the minister for roads, Amoaku Attah.
The NPP had 322 parliamentary aspirants vying in 101 constituencies across 15 out of the 16 regions in Ghana.
The party previously selected parliamentary candidates in constituencies where it does not have sitting MPs on December 2, 2023.
Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib wins Weija Gbawe against Tina Gifty Mensah.
In Dome Kwabenya, delegates rally agaisnt Sara Adjoa Sarfo, the incumbent member of Parliament.
Apart frrom the 19 incumbent New Patriotic Party members of parliament who have decided not to return to the house, 18 others have lost their seats in today's primaries.
