ELECTROCHEM GHANA'S SONGOR PROJECT WILL SIGNIFICANTLY CHANGE THE ECONOMY – PREZ NANA ADDO
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has commended Electrochem Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the McDan Group of Companies, led by Dr. Daniel McKorley saying the ongoing redevelopment of the Songor salt concession in Ada for large-scale production of salt will make a significant change to the Ghanaian economy.
He said Electrochem Ghana has an initial capacity to produce six hundred thousand (650,000 metric tons of salt per annum.
According to him, this figure will increase exponentially to one million (1,000,000) metric tons by the end of this year and two million (2,000,000) metric tons by the end of 2027.
Electrochem Ghana will be the biggest salt-producing facility in the whole of West Africa, he noted.
He made these comments yesterday Wednesday 6th March, 20024 while addressing the 67th National Independence Day parade in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region on the theme, 'Our Democracy, our Pride'.

Another heartrending footage of the callous acts that students of the Adisadel College in Cape Coast subject their colleagues to has popped up on social media, causing even more outrage than the previous one in which a student was captured virtually strangulating his mate and eventually hitting the forehead against a metal bed in one of the dormitories.
You will cringe watching this video too. These acts certainly cannot continue in our schools.
Stakeholders in our educational sector must act with alacrity to nip this disturbing trend in the bud to help create a congenial atmosphere in the schools.

KONOR OF YILI KROBO, GAZETTE, AND SWORN INTO THE EASTERN REGIONAL HOUSE OF CHIEFS
The Konor of Yilo Krobo, Oklepeme Nuer Anorbaa Sasraku II, has been gazetted and officially sworn into the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.
He was sworn in today at the Regional House of Chief in Koforidua at a ceremony presided over by Nene Sakite II, Konor of Manya Krobo and President of the Eastern Regional House of Chief.
Known privately as Mr. Romeo Tetteh Kofi, Nene Nuer Anorbaa Sasraku II who was installed in October 2010 succeeded the late Kpetekple Narh Dautey Ologo VI, the immediate past Konor of Yilo Krobo who passed on in March 2009 aged 72 years.
Oklepeme Sasraku was subsequently outdoored on 26th March, 2015 amidst a protracted chieftaincy dispute which spanned over a decade.
The retinue of chiefs, aides and well-wishers which accompanied Nene for the epoch-making ceremony is currently headed for Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality in a celebratory mood to begin what is obviously the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Yilo Krobo.
Ahead of tomorrow's by-election in the Assin North constituency, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has lauded the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Mr. George Akuffo Dampare for his handling of elections and expressed confidence in his ability to put in place the needed security arrangements to ensure a peaceful election.
According to him, the party had tested the IGP with two previous elections including the Kumawu by-elections and he passed the tests, reason the party has developed absolute confidence in him to ensure sanity at the polls tomorrow.

POLICE OFFICER ESCORTING BULLION SHOT DEAD IN A DAYLIGHT ROBBERY
Some robbers have brazenly shot dead a young police officer who was escorting a bullion van and made away with their booty.
The dastardly incident happened today at Ablekeuma in Accra.
The Police Service has since vowed to pursue and apprehend the robbers to face the full rigors of the law.
The accompanying CCTV footage shows the precision with which the robbery was executed.

Check how a group of policemen managed to disarm a young man who was wielding a cutlass and menacing. What triggered the drama remains unknown though.

ASANTEHENE IN LONDON FOR THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asante Kingdom left the country yesterday to join global leaders for the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla at Westminster Abbey in the United Kingdom.
Together with his wife, the Asantehene left in a private jet shortly after they were seen off by a retinue of traditional leaders from the Asante Kingdom.
Today, the two were received by King Charles III in a private audience at the Buckingham Palace. They will also be attending the King’s official reception for overseas guests tomorrow, May 5, 2023.
The coronation is the first in over 70 years.
