MORATORIUM ON BEACHES ERA WAS HELLISH- REVELERS
Revelers during this Chrismas holidays in Ada describe the period of ban on beach attendance and related gatherings as difficult and trying moments.
Accoding to them, they were whipped by boredom, making living for the period uncomfortable and by far hellish.
As the most preferred tourists destination of the Greater Accra Region, hundreds of revelers keep thronging Ada since last week to have fan to climax their new year holidays in a grand style.
Some are visiting the beautiful scenery of the estuary at Azizanya, while others are jeskying on the Volta Lake as several others are calling at their preferred resorts on the islands to enjoy themselves. Crossing with wooden boats to the islands to them is unforgettable experience amidst strict adherence to safety and COVID-19 protocols.
This year's enjoyment is exceptional due to the inactivity for almost two years as a result of restrictions to contain the spread of the pandemic.
Some of the fan makers were elated at lifting of the interim ban on beaches patronage and recount the harrowing experiences of not getting the opportunity to have fan and destress in the recent past after hard days' work due to the global malaise.
ATINKANEWS met Chef Omar, who tells how he almost lost his job because of the temporary prohibition on patronising such recreational facilities, after several months of inactivity.
A supervisor at the Treasure Island, Charles Bekoe Bruce, has also been speaking about the telling effect of the coronavirus-ochestrated sanction on revelling on his family. Mr. Bruce however sought the opportunity to call on the central government to fix the road network of the area, especially from Kasseh to Azizanya as well as provide potable water to enhace tourism in the area.

NADMO OFFICIALS DEFY COVID-19 PROTOCOL
Hendreds of National Disaster Management Organisation, NADMO, workers have defied the COVID-19 protocol and massed up in a room to undertake a nationwide exercise.
In a bid to take photograph for their national IDs, the staff from ten MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region were overcrowded in the Tema Metro Assembly Hall amidst chaos in flagrant breach of the COVID-19 protocol of not assembling in an enclosed place with such volume of number.
There was no control at all as the disaster prevention officers were falling on each other struggling to take their turn with utter disregard for the pandemic.
WE SHALL FORBID A NON-INDIGENE ACCESSIBILITY-TTC TELLS GOV'T
The Tema Traditional Council says it will forbid non-indigenes appointed to the MMDCE positions in Tema access to the traditional council. The stance also involves Ashaiman which is a division under the Tema Traditional Council.
This was disclosed at a presser at Manhean after council members claim a bird whispered to them that appointing authorities seek to appoint a non-indigene as a Mayor of the Tema Metro, in spite of several indigenes in the contest.
The Ashaiman Divisional Council led by the Recent, Nii Annan Adjor earlier made it clear that they will only support an indigene as ASHMA boss.
Shipi for the Tema Traditional Council who doubles as Stool Secretary, Nii Armarh Somponu speaking at the press conference recounts how they struggled with the previous regime in 2016 for an indigene to be appointed as Mayor, a development which is insulting to them as though they have no qualified native to man the position. "According to him, there are other indigenous aspirants and therefore will not understand why all of them would be sidestepped for a non-indigene when virtual all the coastal areas enjoy this right leaving out Tema alone.
"We shall not recognise that Mayor, so he or she will not step foot here in that capacity, we shall not tolerate that person. And in that case, we are prepared to even lay down our lives because it appears we are losing our sovereignty and we shall defend it till we are all dead" Nii Shipi accentuates.
The Tema Stool Secretary went on to cite MMDAs from Ada to Teshie where Indigenes are the most preferred choices, saying even though Tema is cosmopolitan, it does not bury the fact that there are primary owners who must be considered in such circumstances, given Tema's contribution to Ghana's development.
He sent a message to the central government that, the Tema Traditional Council still stands by the 2016 position and if it appoints a non-indigene.....
