"Ceative arts must have a policy , Mr Mikki Osei Berko"
Renowned Ghanaian actor, Mr. Mikki Osei Berko, has emphasized the need for a comprehensive policy to govern the Creative Arts Industry.
Speaking on Atinka TV's "Entertainment Lounge," one of the flagship programmes on Atinka Tv, Mr. Berko stressed that a well-structured policy would enable the industry to function effectively.
Mr Berko, also known as Nana Kwesi Anyan Bekeo 1 (Omankrado of Affumkrom), noted that Ghana has overlooked the potential of the Creative Arts Industry, focusing instead on natural resources like cocoa and gold.
He also highlighted the significant contribution of tourism, the country's second-highest income earner, and advocated for increased attention to this sector.
Reflecting on his own career, he shared his journey from school drama and poetry competitions to becoming a successful actor.
He also revealed his brief foray into music, releasing a reggae album, "Kokonsa," featuring notable artists like Terry Bonchaka and Nana Tabri.
Mr Berko concluded by urging Ghanaians to take the Creative Arts Industry seriously, citing its numerous benefits, including reduced health issues, income generation, and employment opportunities for youth.
"The country that prioritizes Creative Arts sees a significant reduction in health issues like hypertension, depression, and anxiety," Berko emphasized. "It's time for us to come together and propel the industry forward."
