IBM, the large computing company based in New York, will stop hiring for non-customer-facing roles that can be automated, according to CEO Arvind Krishna in an interview with Bloomberg.
The job cuts will primarily affect non-customer-facing positions, including human resources, which has around 26,000 employees.
Krishna estimated that up to 30% of these non-customer-facing roles could be replaced by AI and automation within the next five years, which could mean a reduction of around 7,800 jobs.
IBM clarified that current employees in these roles will not be fired, but any open positions will not be filled if vacated due to attrition.

According to the newly published Ghana Regional Brand Index (CIMG-RBI Report, 2022), the Ashanti Region is the top-performing region in terms of branding in Ghana.

The study evaluated nine parameters, and Ashanti Region performed the best in culture and heritage, local tourism, and its local people, in that order.
Despite performing poorly in the parameter of 'local economic climate,' the Ashanti Region still outperformed all other regions on this measure.
The regions that followed Ashanti Region in the ranking were Greater Accra, Eastern, and Central Regions, in decreasing order.
The top quartile of the ranking is composed of these four regions.
Even though Greater Accra came second in the overall ranking, it received the highest scores in culture and heritage, local tourism, investment climate, and its local people.
Greater Accra's performance was particularly noteworthy among business-owners, full-time workers who are not indigenes, and permanent residents.

China's Ding Liren triumphs at the World Chess Championship, becoming the first Chinese player to win the tournament.

Ding, a 30-year-old Chinese chess player, won the World Chess Championship tiebreaker after playing 14 games in the first stage in Kazakhstan.
He succeeded five-time champion Magnus Carlsen, who did not defend his title due to a lack of motivation after a cheating scandal involving a US opponent.
Ding's victory makes him the 17th winner of the world chess tournament, while Nepomniachtchi, who had previously made a grand final, fell at the final hurdle for a second time.
Ding was emotional after his victory and received warm congratulatory messages from China's General Administration of Sport and chess fans on social media.
Ding's win reflects China's growth in the global chess scene, as he is the first Chinese player to win the World Chess Championship.
The tiebreaker saw Ding and Nepomniachtchi each win three games and draw eight in the first stage, with Ding clinching victory in the fourth quick-fire game.
The 2m euro prize money will be split 55-45 between the two players.
Ding's achievements include becoming China's youngest chess champion at national level in 2009 and being the highest-ranked Chinese player in the world rankings, reaching second place within 12 years.
Ding had finished second at the Candidates Tournament, which allowed him to compete against Nepomniachtchi due to Carlsen's abstention.
In classical chess, Ding was undefeated for 100 games from August 2017 to November 2018, which was the longest unbeaten streak in top-level chess history until Carlsen surpassed it in 2019.

Adidas investors have filed a lawsuit against the company in Oregon, accusing it of routinely ignoring the extreme behavior of Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West.
Adidas ended its partnership with Ye in October 2020 after he made antisemitic remarks.
The investors claim that Adidas only ended its partnership with Ye after weeks of criticism.
The lawsuit mentions Ye's controversial comments in 2018 when he suggested that slavery was a "choice.'
Adidas denounced the legal action and called the claims unfounded.
After ending its partnership with Ye, Adidas launched an investigation into allegations of bullying and forcing employees to watch po*******hy.
