For years Yvonne Nelson's mother led her to believe her father was one Mr Nelson a married man, who abandoned them at her birth to be with his own family.
As fate will have it Yvonne attended the same school with a classmate Eugene Nelson and a teacher noticed the similarities in their paperwork and called them both to ask questions about their relations and then gave them an assignment to ask their parents if they were indeed related.
When Yvonne asked her mother about Mr Nelson she lied, she spoke so negatively of the man who was supposed to have fathered her painting him in the stereotypical irresponsible father archetype.
For years Yvonne has chosen to celebrate her mother on father's day and today we have answers; Mr Nelson was not her father, her biological father was actually her mother's lawyer during her divorce from her first husband, this lawyer was none other than the former Rt. Hon. Speaker of Ghana's Parliament in the 4th Republic in the NPPs first term in office Peter Ala Adjetey of blessed memory.
Unfortunately she never got to meet her "real father" because of her mother's lies. More often than not this is how some single parents's ruin the future relationship prospects of their own children because some childhood scars never heal.
Update: DNA test ruled out the late Peter Ala Adjetey as Yvonne Nelson's biological father. Her mother continues to hold her daughter's emotions to ransom by refusing to disclose who her real father could be.
