JetZero, the pioneering aerospace firm, has achieved a major milestone: JetZero via LinkedIn announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted its blended wing demonstrator aircraft an Airworthiness Certificate. This greenlight paves the way for test flights of its Pathfinder aircraft, marking a significant stride toward revolutionizing air travel.

The FAA certification for the scaled-down Pathfinder demonstrator aircraft marks a noteworthy achievement. This model, with a wingspan of 23 feet (7 meters), represents 12.5% of the full aircraft size. JetZero's upbeat LinkedIn post, "Now let’s go fly!", suggests that we could soon witness video footage of the Pathfinder's first flight.

JetZero has been collaborating with major industry stakeholders such as the US Air Force, NASA, and the FAA to make its blended wing concept a reality by 2030. Their efforts received a significant boost in August 2023 when they obtained a contract from the Air Force to build a full-size prototype by 2027.

The search for a ship rumored to contain an estimated 4 billion pounds worth of gold and silver that sank off Cornwall in 1641.

A quest to locate the sunken ship Merchant Royal, dubbed the “El Dorado of the Seas” for its rumored vast riches, has commenced near the UK coast.

The 17th-century English vessel, carrying an estimated 4 billion pounds worth of gold and silver, sank off Cornwall in 1641.

Multibeam Services, utilizing advanced sonar technology and unmanned underwater vessels, aims to search a 200-square-mile area of the English Channel throughout 2024.

Despite the potential financial reward, the company prioritizes treating any discovered treasure as heritage artifacts, acknowledging the historical significance of the find.

The challenging search is complicated by the dangerous waters where the ship went down, with thousands of shipwrecks in the area.

A hydrogen train made by Swiss company Stadler broke a Guinness World Record by traveling 1,741 miles (2,803 km) continuously. This achievement occurred during a test on a special track in Colorado, USA, using a prototype hydrogen-powered passenger car.

Stadler's hydrogen train, named FLIRT-H2, consists of two passenger cars connected by a power pack in the middle. This power pack stores hydrogen in fuel tanks and utilizes fuel cells to transform it into electricity. The two-car configuration accommodates 108 passengers and can reach a maximum speed of 79 miles (130 km) per hour. It's engineered to function effectively in high temperatures, up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 degrees Celsius).

The FLIRT-H2 was constructed for the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) and can operate all day without needing to refuel. Currently undergoing testing on a track in Colorado, it is set to begin service later this year. Stadler has sought to validate its assertions by establishing a Guinness World Record.

Ukraine is significantly increasing its defense capabilities against Russia by allocating nearly $1.4 billion in 2024 for the development of domestically produced weapons.

This investment, coupled with the rise of privately owned factories, exemplifies the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in its defense sector.

Despite facing obstacles such as bureaucracy and a shortage of skilled workers, Ukraine’s defense industry, including its burgeoning drone sector, plays a crucial role in countering Russian aggression. However, continued Western support remains essential amid delays in aid delivery.

Britain’s Astronomer Royal, Martin Rees, argues that sending humans into space, when robots can perform the same tasks effectively, is a misuse of public funds.

He believes space exploration should be left to billionaires and individuals willing to finance their own trips.

Rees, who holds a largely honorary title, suggests that with robots capable of tasks previously requiring humans, the rationale for crewed space missions is diminishing.

He advocates for space travel to be reserved for those accepting significant risks, funded privately rather than publicly.

While Britain’s space efforts have historically prioritized research over manned missions, notable Britons have participated in NASA and Soviet space missions.

Thailand's House of Representatives voted to legalize same-sex marriage on Wednesday. The bill still requires approval from the Senate and endorsement from the king before marriage equality can become reality in Thailand, a process that could still take months.

If passed into law, Thailand would be the first nation in Southeast Asia to legally recognize same-sex marriage.

𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚'𝐬 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐁*𝐭𝐜𝐡

Filipina fencing phenom Maxine Esteban earned her spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics, yet she will not represent the Philippines but the Ivory Coast.

She left the Philippine National Fencing team and opted to change nationalities because of how she was treated. After suffering an injury, she was axed off the team.

Esteban felt disrespected, especially how she, an eight-time Philippine national champion and World Cup multi-medalist, could easily be booted because of an injury. Worse, she was not given proper notice.

But Karma knows the word “payback.” Esteban earned ample points in a final Olympic-qualifying tournament in Washington, D.C., to book herself and Ivory Coast a 2024 Paris spot. The Philippines, on the other hand? Nada.

Suppose only the federation was not hasty in kicking Esteban and trusted she could recover from an ACL injury. In that case, the Philippines might have a representative in the quadrennial sporting event.

They were quick to lose faith and are now suffering the consequences. Esteban is fencing not for the Philippines but for Ivory Coast, and given her coveted status, she could bag a medal in the event, which she will offer to the country she now represents.

Oh well, karma’s really a b*tch.
