๐ How can an individual remove the hatred and malice he has towards his brother from his heart?
Shaykh Muhammad al-Uthaymin ุฑุญู

An individual can be free from these affairs by the following:
[1] The individual remembers the sins that he incurs due to this continuous enmity and that he misses out on the goodness due to the deeds being presented to Allah on Monday and Thursday. If there is enmity between two individuals, Allah says: Wait until the affair of these two are rectified. Meaning, the Lord doesnโt look at your deeds on Monday and Thursday if there is enmity between you and your brother.
[2] The individual knows that there is an abundant amount of good for the pardoner in pardoning and rectification, and that pardoning does not increase him except in honor. As the Prophet ๏ทบ said: None humbles himself for Allah except that He honors him.
[3] The individual knows that Shaytan- and he is his enemy- is the one igniting the flames of enmity and malice between the believers because it saddens him to see the Muslims united and loving one another. And he becomes happy when he sees them separated and when he sees that there is enmity and malice between them.
When an individual mentions the benefits and the harms, then it is essential that he takes what is beneficial and leave off what is harmful.
So upon you is to strive against your soul even if you humble it outwardly, because the reality is that you are honoring it. This is because whoever humbles himself for Allah, Allah will elevate him. None humbles himself for Allah except that He honors him.
Try it. You will find that if you were to pardon and rectify what is between you and your brothers, you will find that you will live a life of comfort and tranquility. Your heart will be at ease and you will experience happiness.
However, if there is enmity or malice in your heart against your brothers, then you will find yourself in a state of utmost grief and worry. And Shaytan will come to you and cause you to think negatively and have evil assumptions of your brothers. If they speak with statements that may be interpreted in a good way or may be interpreted in an evil way, he will make you interpret it in an evil way.
And this is despite the fact that it is legislated to interpret the statements of your brothers in a good way whenever this is possible.
So whenever it is possible to interpret it in a good way then do so, whether it is in speech or in actions. And donโt interpret it in an evil way.
Some people -and Allahโs refuge is sought- interpret the speech and actions of their brothers in an evil way. Then Shaytan pushes him to spy on his brother, follow up on him and look and what he does and what he says. So you always find him analyzing his speech and actions. If only he would interpret it in a good way. However, he interprets in an evil way. And this is from the incitement of Shaytan -and Allahโs refuge is sought-.
What is obligatory upon the believer is that if he sees something from his brother that may be interpreted as good or may be interpreted as bad, that he should interpret it as good as long as there is no strong proof that prevents him from that.
This is another affair. If something emanates from an individual who is known for evil, then there is no problem in interpreting his speech or actions as they are. As for the individual whose shortcomings are hidden, and he is not known for evil, if it is found in his speech or actions that may either be interpreted in a good way or in an evil way, then he should interpret it in a good way so that he is at ease.
Perhaps that individual, who follows up on the verbal and action-based shortcomings and mistakes of the people, Allah might put over him one that will follow him up while he is alone. Whoever follows up the shortcomings of his brother, Allah will follow up his shortcomings. And whomever Allah follows up will be exposed even if he is in the depths of his home.
