The Municipal Chief Executive for Prestea Huni-Valley, Hon.Isaac Dasmani(PhD) on Friday 24th June, 2022 stepped in for the board chairperson of the minerals commission and the founder of Wassa Hemaa foundation; Lawyer Barbara Oteng Gyesi, to cut sod for the construction of rural telephony and digital Network at Tarkwa Breman.

TARKWA MP COMMISSIONS SENYAKROM CHPs COMPOUND

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency and the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has commissioned and handed over a CHPS Compound facility to the people of Senyakrom.

The purpose of the project is to bring health care to the doorstep of people around to serve their health needs and to also prevent them from going a long distant to access healthcare.

The Health facility is made up of an OPD, Consulting Room, Delivery Room, Recovery Room, Reproductive and Child Health Unit (RCH), two (2) Toilet facility and kitchen.

Hon George Mireku Duker speaking during the commissioning of the facility on Saturday, 26th June 2022, charged the Municipal Health Director, Caroline Otoo, to provide quality health services and to collaboratively work with the chiefs and elders to cement a good working relationship between the Health Directorate and the Community.

He appealed to health staff posted to the facility to make it attractive to people in the area to ensure the health needs of the people are met by being kind and caring to them.

Madam Caroline Otoo commended the MP for his efforts at improving healthcare services in the area

She, however, appealed to Traditional Authorities to assist in providing a security for the facility and staff.

Nana Bediako, speaking on behalf of the chiefs and elders expressed his profound gratitude and promised to take good care of the facility.

Hon. Duker was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive,Hon. Benjamin Kessie, Constituency Executives and party supporters.

TARKWA APRIL BORNS GROUP PAINTS CROSSWALKS

Over 200 people born in the month of April who lives in Tarkwa Nsuaem and abroad has paints ten pedestrian crossing in the Tarkwa business Street.

The painting of the pedestrian crossing forms part of the April born Association to show love and also to enhance safety on busy arterial roads in the Tarkwa Nsuaem municipality.

The Association spent over Fourteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 14000) for the painting.

The chairman of the April born association Nana Adu Gyan noted that, the association was formed in 2017 and gradually increasing in size. He urged April borns who lives in Tarkwa to come and join the association.

Mr George Mawula Damine who is part of the leadership advised other months borns to also come together and help Tarkwa Nsuaem and mother Ghana.

He also thanked some the members who contributed to the success of the association.

The Municipal chief executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem Hon Benjamin Kessie thanked the organizers for such initiative.

ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI HOLDS THANKSGIVING SERVICE

Anglo Ashanti iduapriem mine has held it's 19th annual Non- Denominational thanksgiving service to reflect their recognition of God's sovereignty and his authority over all activities of the Mine.

The theme for this year celebration was on " Goodness of the lord".

The event bought together stakeholders, including employees and their families, host communities, and government officials to acknowledge the providence of God to attribute the successful running of their operations.

The occasion was graced by some personalities including Municipal chief executive for Tarkwa Nsueam, Municipal chief executive for prestea Huni Dr Isaac Dasmani, Nanannom, and chief executives of the minerals commission and Ghana chamber of mines.

The Managing Director for Anglo Gold Ashanti Mr Samuel Boakye Pobee giving his speech noted that the past two years have been a challenging period all over the world that the company had to adapt to the reality of the covid 19 pandemic, and the many changes it has brought to their day to day lives.

He added that indeed, things have been difficult across several industries, especially in the mining sector with most companies experiencing production challenges, but notwithstanding, the Almighty God has remained faithful to the mine by allowing the mine to continue operating safely and responsibly through out the period.

Giving the sermon for the day Bishop Anyane Asare's victory Bible Church International Tarkwa explained that every human being needs to be thankful to God for the great things he has done and for greater things he will accomplish through mankind, the sermon was based on luke 15 vs 15 to 19 and Psalm 92 vs 1 to 2.

The municipal chief executive for prestea Huni valley municipality Hon Dr Isaac Dasmani who spoke on behalf of the Western regional minister Hon kwabena okyere Darko Mensah commended Anglo Gold for their continued support to their host communities and also the pavement of the Nsuta - Tamso road that was creating huge traffic congestion.

As part of the Thanksgiving ceremony the company awarded 50 students with scholarships from their host communities to continue their tertiary education.

GHANAIAN BORN US ARMY OFFICER DONATES COMPUTERS TO FIASEMAN SHS

A Ghanaian born United States Army officer, Second Lieutenant Dennis Duku, has donated 50 brand-new HP i5 core 3.5GHZ computers and accessories to his alma mater Fiaseman Senior High School, at Tarkwa.

The provision of these computers, in pristine condition, is hoped to boost the capacity of the ICT Department of Fiaseman SHS to be able to offer hands-on teaching and learning of computing.

Second Lieutenant, Dennis Duku, handing over the computers stated that, with the current spate of technological advancement, having digital skills will soon be a key employment requirement.

The Municipal Education Director, Mr Alex Kweku Duah, who received the computers on the behalf of the school authorities expressed gratitude to Mr Duku for the initiative.

GOLD FIELDS DAMANG AWARDS 75 STUDENTS WITH ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Goldfields Damang mine through the Goldfields Ghana foundation has awarded scholarships to 75 students in the company's host community to further their tertiary education.

Goldfields Ghana believes that the development of human capital through education and skill development is the most effective tool to overcome poverty in Ghana, particularly its host communities.

That's why the company is supporting the brilliant youth of these communities to enable them to realize their human potential largely due to the lack of financial support to pursue higher education.

The community affairs and sustainable engagement manager Mr. Abdul Razak noted that over 967 people from Goldfields Damang host communities have been supported under these programs since the inception of the foundation in 2004.

The head counseling and students support unit at University of Mines and Technology, Mr. Theophilus Andoh Roberson Stated, that these scholarships will help the students whose parents can not pay their wards fees.

The human resources officer for Ghana Education service at prestea Huni valley municipality Mr. Ghapson Boabeng commended Goldfields Ghana for the opportunity given to the students to further their education.

PRESSURE GROUP OUTLINES PROJECTS OF PRESTEA HUNI-VALLEY MP WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF ADMINISTRATION.

Alliance for Development and Accountability (ADA), a concern pressure group in Prestea has listed works of Hon. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, MP for Prestea Huni-Valley within hisfirst year based on what they have uncovered from their checks.

A concern pressure group who seek for the welfare, accountability and development for the people, said they see the need to let the constituency and the media know the works the Member of Parliament.

Addressing the Media on Saturday, the Chairman of the group, Mr Emmanuel Sarsah stated that, the MP has just received two (2) quarters of his common fund out of the 4 quarters which is supposed to be released by the central government to continue the projects.

They called on the government as a matter of urgency to release the leftover of the

⬛3 packets of roofing sheet for maternity block at Bondaye by concerned students

⬛Distribution of Covid 19 items across the constituency. These include: thermometer guns,veronica buckets, liquid soaps, nose masks, tissues. Areas where such items were distributedincludes the3 major secondary schools within the constituency, Hospitals and chp compoundacross the following which is Aboso, Prestea, Huni-Valley, Bogoso, and Himan.

⬛ Donation of Medical Equipment’s which includes 2 Thermometer guns to St. Augustine S.H.S, 2Drip Stand to Prestea Senior High and 2 Ward Screen to Huni-Valley S. H. S

🔵LIGHTING

A total number of 200 sets of bulbs were distributed across the various constituency wih includes; Himan, Prestea, Bogoso, Aboso, Huni-Valley and Damang

🔵SPORTS

⬛ An amount of cash and drinks were given to Aboso Soccer Reform in their qualification
Regional and National Competition
Support made to Prestea Himan based team in their qualification to middle league

⬛ To support the football talents within the constituency, sets of Jersey and footballs ve distributed to organizers of competitions during the Christmas period. These communities are Bompieso, Damangand Aboso

🔵SCHOLARSHIP

For the first year of the MP’s administration, a total number of 16 students are currently on the MP scholarship scheme, which we are praying it will be, more when the central government release the rest of the common fund

🔵 ON GOING PROJECT

From our checks as an accountable and developmental group the Member of Parliament revealed that the following
project will see the bright of the day when a sod cutting projects will be done soon.
These are:

⬛ 2-unit K.G block at Aboso Nsuaem
Community Centre at Koduakrom

The group further called on the Central government and the Municipal Assembly to answer the following questions.

GOLDFIELDS GHANA FOUNDATION LAUNCHES ADOLESCENT SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR ITS HOST COMMUNITIES.

Goldfield Ghana Foundation in partnership with Prestea Huni valley Municipal Assembly and Ghana Education service has launched Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Development Programme for its host communities.

The programme aims at reducing the high rate of teenage pregnancy cases recorded over the years among school children and other residents communities within the Damang and Huni valley education circuits.

Goldfield Ghana foundation has trained over 200 school children as peer educators on adolescent reproductive health with emphasis on teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections(STI).

The company has also sponsored the training of 58 teachers and facilitators as counselors for the schools and supervisors for the peer educators.

Queen mothers and Assembly members of the 10 host communities of Damang mine have been engaged to lead behavioral change activities in the community.

The Regional Manager community relations for Goldfield Ghana limited Mr Robert Siaw noted that, the programme is in line with the companys corporate social responsibility commitments to improve the education and health of its host community members.Tape

The acting general manager of Goldfields Ghana limited Damang mine Mr Charles kofi Nti explained, the programme is expected to be executed at a cost of seventy thousand Ghana cedis annually for 5 years.

He added that the overall objective of the programme is to achieve a 30 percent drop in teenage pregnancy among school children in Damang and Huni valley circuits by 2025.

The Education Director for prestea Huni valley municipality Mrs Marvie Colerangle Ashun stated that it's their desire that the school children will be a responsible adult in society.

The municipal chief executive of prestea Huni valley municipality Hon Isaac Dasmani advised the parents to open up to their wards when advising them.

TARKWA-NSUAEM MCE CELEBRATES NATIONAL CHOCOLATE DAY WITH METHODIST BASIC SCHOOL

Hon. Benjamin Kessie, Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive on Monday 14th February 2022 joined the students and teachers of Tarkwa Methodist Basic School to mark the National Chocolate Day which is popularly known as Valentine’s Day.

The MCE shared chocolates which has health benefits to the lower basic school and their teachers.

Hon. Kessie urged the teachers to use this day to explain well to pupils and student across the various institutions in the municipality, especially upper primary and JHS, the true meaning of Valentine’s Day to avoid unexpected occurrence.

“I decided to use here as a contact point to spread the message across the Municipality”.

I will use the opportunity to ask the head teachers to use at least 20 minutes to educate the children on the kind of love we are talking about, not the one that is out there”.

“Let them know that it is a day to show/express love to one another but not a day for social vices”.“I believe with that, the purpose of Chocolate Day will be well understood”. he added

MP AND MCE COMMISSION ULTRA MODERN COMMUNITY CENTER FOR ADIEWOSO COMMUNITY

The Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Hon George Mireku Duker together with Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kessie on Saturday, February 5, 2022 commissioned an ultra-modern Community Centre for the good people of Adiewoso.

The project composes of an office, store room and toilet facilities will also serve as multi purpose for social functions and other related purposes.

Speaking at the ceremony the MP thanked the President for his continues support for the people of Tarkwa Nsuaem and the National petroleum Authority for contributing to this project.

Hon. Mireku Duker emphasized the need for the people to have confidence in the government to undertake massive development in the constituency. He intimated his commitment to improving the living conditions in the community and referenced some infrastructural projects and social interventions to back his claims.

He later promised the people of Adiewoso for a community mining.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Hon Benjamin kessie advice the people of Adiewoso to use and maintain the project well.

He called on the people to rally behind the Assembly and the NPP Government to implement programmes and projects which would help speed up the development process in the area.

The chief of Adiewoso, Nana kwaku Ebully III, commended George Mireku Duker for staying through to his campaign promises.

Asanco Mine Limited has supported Apeatse Victims with Building Material for the reconstruction of the community.

The gesture is aimed at supporting the government rebuild their houses and alleviate their sufferings.

These materials includes 450 bags of cement 5 tons of iron rods, 12 roofing sheets and 1900 blocks.

The Manager of Environment and External Relations, Mr. Eric Darko noted that the company will do it possible best to support the Apeatse victims.

Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kessie on Monday 24th January 2022 donated some relived items worth GHC 5,407 to persons who sustained various degree of injuries following the explosion at Apeatse in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality last Thursday.

Items donated include; six bags of rice, three bags of sardine, three bags of milk, three bags of lipton, three bags of mackerel, three bags of milo, three bags of sugar, three bags of oil and an amount of GHC 2,000.00.

The donation was made at Tarkwa Municipal Hospital where the hospital administrator and Medical Superintendent received the items on behalf of the victims.

Addressing the media, Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Ernest Frank Odro indicated that the assembly was overwhelmed with the unfortunate incident and the items is to assist the victims.

Hon. Benjamin Kessie noted that the assembly will be fully engaged in supporting all the victims either in cash or in kind.
He therefore appealed to individuals and other mining companies to also come to the aid of the victims.

Receiving the items, Dr. Frederick Yaw Sarpong, Medical Superintendent at the Municipal Hospital lauded the assembly for their immediate intervention.

Briefing the assembly, Dr. Sarpong disclosed that they received 33 injured persons at their facility but unfortunately one of them succumbed to pains while doctors were trying to save him.

TARKWA-NSUAEM MCE DIVULGE PLANS TO HONOR BEST JOURNALIST, POLITICIANS, OTHERS

The Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Hon. Benjamin Kessie has disclosed plans to award frontline workers in the municipality.

The award according to Hon. Kessie will be done yearly, starting this year to motivate those who impact positively to the development of the municipality.

Journalists, Business Men/Women, Chiefs and Politicians will all be honored for their outstanding contribution to Tarkwa-Nsuaem.

A date for the maiden edition will be fixed after a committee has done a thorough deliberation on the initiative.

Explaining further, Hon. Benjamin Kessie said; “A neutral body will be set to develop a criteria for the process and nomination of the persons involve”. “We want people who are doing the most for the municipality to be identified and recognized.

On the issues with the nature of the Tarkwa to ‘Apemanim’ roads, Hon. Kessie said contractors have already commenced work after the Christmas break.

He revealed this in an interview with Owass FM, Tarkwa.

TEDHUB START UP SUMMIT ENDS WITH MOUTH-WATERING PRIZES TO WINNERS

The Tarkwa Entrepreneurship Development Hub "start up summit" has ended with Mouthwatering prizes to the participants.

Tarkwa Startup Summit aimed to creates an avenue for Startups to pitch their innovative ideas, converge investors and Innovators in one place. It also increase access to funding within the Tarkwa Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, celebrate and promote Startup culture in the Municipality.

The programme, which is on the theme: "Mobile Applications for sustainable business development and job creation in Tarkwa Nsuaem" is focused on showcasing, enterprise innovations with the potential of providing an alternative means of employment for young people and demonstrating the potential to accelerate digital transformation in Ghana.

TEDHub took the participants through a six (6) weeks training in helping them developed the skills of creating mobile applications.

The three teams that took part in the summit were Solid Widgets, Ace Team and Team focus.

At the end of the competition, Ace team emerged the over all best winner followed by solid widget as 1st runner up and Team focus picking 2nd Runners up.

Mr Eugene Abiodoo who is instructor led-trainer for the Hub computer systems cited that, the summit was in the right direction because it is going to empower the youth who has ICT knowledge to make money out of their skills since the summit will continue to give them platforms in the job markets.

He also advised the third term to better their ideas and come back strong.

THOMAS TETTEH WINS DOUBLE AT MAIDEN LUXURY TOUCH RADIO PERSONALITY AWARDS

Dynamite FM Presenter, Thomas Tetteh on Friday night picked up two top awards at the maiden Luxury Touch Radio Personality Awards.

The versatile radio host was adjudged Morning Show Host of the year and then won the newscaster of the year.

Uncle Atongo was adjudged Mid-Morning Show host of the year and DJ Kenya received an award for Best radio DJ of the year.

HON GEORGE MIREKU DUKER SET TO AWARD BEST TEACHERS IN TARKWA NSUAEM MUNICIPALITY

Member of parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Hon. George Mireku Duker promises teachers in the municipality an award of a vehicle to the best teacher in subsequent years. He said this in an engagement with the heads of the various first and second cycle schools in the municipality which took place at the Hilda hotel to address issues facing schools in the municipality.

The meeting was also held to primarily outline the achievements of the member of parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency who also doubles as the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Responsible for Mining.

Hon George Mireku Duker outlined some of the projects the municipality benefitted from which includes a 3000 capacity Dining Hall for fiaseman Senior high school (FIASEC), 6 unit class room block at Nyaso and Tarkwa Senior high school (TARSCO), a 3 unit class room Block for Simpa and many other projects including job creation in the municipality.

The Education Director for Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, Mr Alex kwaku Duah also expressed his gratitude to the teachers for their continuous effort to aid in educating children in the municipality.

The municipal chief executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Hon Benjamin kessie assured that his office will continue to support educational projects of the municipality to help its growth.

The Headteachers also pleaded with the member of parliament to come to their aid by motivating teachers living in the rural communities.

TARKWA MP SUPPORT 250 WIDOWS TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Hon. George Mireku Duker on the Boxing Day put smiles on the faces of Two hundred and fifty (250) widows in the constituency by providing them with hampers and some undisclosed amount of cash as part of his corporate social responsibility.

Over the past years, The deputy minister for Lands and Natural Resources has made it a vow to assist the needy and vulnerable especially aged women and widows.

Items presented to the widows included GTP Cloth, assorted drinks, cooking oil, Rice, Corn flakes and many others.

The widows were full of joy as they expressed their appreciation to Hon. George Mireku Duker for the kind gesture and honour done them.
