We started conversation about the district assembly structure and the upcoming district assembly elections on the show yesterday.

Great content on civic matters with intentional efforts to promote active participation of the citizens in the upcoming district assembly elections.

Our key highlight from yesterday:

Out of 62 members of the legislative body of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, only three (3) are women.

All three ladies are appointed members.

Meaning , no female elected assembly member in the Tamale Metropolis.

Is it that electorates do not vote for the women or women do not contest for the assembly elections ?

The Silent Burden, a Short Film by Sulemana Zakaria (Prince Barak)

Over the past three years, my focus has been deeply immersed in menstrual health education. During this time, I have actively engaged in sensitization campaigns, worked to raise awareness against harmful menstrual practices, and voiced my opposition to the taxation of menstrual management products like sanitary pads.

Given this context, I made the decision to center my final year research on Menstrual Health Education, as part of my academic journey at the University. The focal point of my research has been the examination of the Influence of Media involvement and interventions by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on menstrual health education in Tamale.

As advocate, I recognized the pivotal roles played by both media and CSOs in advancing menstrual hygiene awareness. Nevertheless, it struck me that there is a notable absence of comprehensive research assessing the true effectiveness of their contributions. With this in mind, I undertook the task of filling this knowledge gap.

After several months of intensive fieldwork, I have amassed valuable insights and hands-on experience concerning the subject. Throughout this journey, I have identified numerous effective strategies for imparting knowledge and advocating against the financial burdens associated with menstruation.
