MLS Dr. Ignatius Abowini Nchor Awinibuno (FWACMLS) is an accomplished Medical Laboratory Scientist. He's risen from the lowest ebb of the profession to his current position as Deputy Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Ministry of Health since 2016. The native of Kologo in the Kassena-Nankana West District has been a unionist and leader of various professional allied health groups over the years where he has mentored many junior laboratory technicians/scientists. As President and Chairman of the Ghana Association of of MLS, he was instrumental in advocating for the formation of the Allied Health Professions Council Board, and led an advocacy for the inclusion of Allied Health Professionals in the Governing Boards of all Teaching Hospitals in the country. Mr Yunus Hassan is the Founder and Director of AKGS Computer School, one of the few pro-poor computer schools in the Sagnarigu Municipality. Since 2015 when it started, Mr Hassan and his team have preoccupied themselves with the objective of training more young people particularly basic school pupils in computer literacy. Also, his consistent advocacy for peace, youth-led volunteerism and empowerment have been recognized by the governments of Turkey, Morocco and Austria among others. He's a recipient of the 2017 Sissala West District Best Maize Farmer Award for 2017 and the National Best Quality Maize Farmer for 2019 among others. Hajia Shirley Issah is a rising transformational leader in health education in Ghana. Give her a task and she'd deliver beyond expectation. She's a goal-getter. She's been a nurse-midwife, health tutor and now a principal. She is the founding principal of Gushegu Midwifery Training College where she cut her teeth as an administrator of a health training institution with many successes including ensuring the availability of adequate resources for the smooth running of a College which was birthed amidst many challenges. The level of positive transformation at Gushegu saw her being transferred to the Kpambe Nursing and Midwifery Training College where she again attained extraordinary feats. The Kpambe College is currently one of the most sought-after health training institutions in Northern Ghana. Congratulations Madam for your penchant for excellence.

For nearly 40 years, Mr Adams Kaleo Bertinus has been a teacher. He's not just an ordinary teacher but a celebrated one. He wanted to become a lawyer but after he failed in his attempt to get the requisite passes in his Advanced Level Education, he opted for the teaching profession and has excelled in it. He's taught at the basic and secondary schools level as well as in the college of education in the then Bono Ahafo Region, Northern and Upper West Regions. The two time award-winning teacher is currently the Principal of Tumu College of Education. Congratulations sir.

Experience they say is the best teacher, and the life of Ms Selina Ayimbila Aboyinga, founder and Executive Director of SFD Foundation, is one that has gone through many stormy challenges. Out of what life has taught her, she has dedicated her time, energy and resources over the years to helping teenage mothers by providing them with skills training and other forms of life's skills. The counsellor and author also equips the young girls with sewing machines by way of setting them up after they complete their training. Congratulations Madam for your service to your community.

Prof. Dr. Adams Bodomo is a distinguished scholar, accomplished author and researcher and a leading advocate of African languages in the literary world. For nearly 40 years, he's taught at many prestigious universities around the world including the University of Ghana, Stanford University, University of Hong Kong, Bayreuth University and the University of Vienna, Austria. He's currently one of the most prominent scholars in the field of Linguistics and African Studies globally. Indeed, he's one of the first black scholars to be appointed into the position of Chair Professorship in Austria, the highest academic position in the German-speaking world. He has won several prestigious fellowships and research projects throughout his academic life. One of the most prominent books he has authored is "The structure of Dagaare" which is a pioneering study on the grammatical structure of his native language, Dagaare, spoken in Northwestern Ghana and adjoining areas of Burkina Faso. The Upper East Regional Library has received 50 copies of the old and new editions of The MIPs Magazine. Mr Leslie Kansaga, Regional Librarian, received the magazines when the Head of Programmes of Rudder Communications Mr Samuel Sam visited the region last week to present citations and complimentary copies to some of MIPs in Bolgatanga and Navrongo areas. Students and the general public can go to the library and read. If you also need a copy of the current edition of The MIPs Magazine to buy, you can get some at the library.

She's a household name in the field field of public health practice in the Ghana Health Service in the Upper East Region where she works as licensed public health practitioner. Through Health Storm GH, a charity organisation which she's the CEO, Ms Gifty Atampugbire and her team have made it their business to periodically visit communities in the Bolgatanga Municipality and adjoining districts to sensitise the public on the dangers of certain diseases and the necessary prevention and curative measures to adopt to live healthy lives. She is also a broadcaster and through her weekly talkshow program on Dreams FM and periodically on A1 Radio, Gurune FM, URA Radio and Yem FM she has brought improvements into the general well-being and lifestyle of many of her listeners. Mr Abdul-Rahim Ahmed is a fashion designer and CEO of Ara Klothen, a leading producer of traditional and African print apparels in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. Ms Juliana Lamise Atinga is CEO of Savana Essence, manufacturers of food and beauty products. Through her social enterprise, has created economic opportunities for many rural women who are a Source of the raw materials she uses to manufacture neem oil, baobab oil, shea oil and butter among others. She's also a project officer with Catholic Relief Services in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region. Congratulations Madam.

Prior to her retirement from the Ghana Education Service as a teacher in 2016, Madam Cecilia Boreche Ewuntomah founded Modern Star Integrated School in Tamale. This was triggered by the prevalence of many young girls dropping out from school to engage in petty trading and Kayaye in order to fend for their families. Through MSIS, she has provided free education to many young girls in and around Tamale. Congratulations Madam.

Mr Charles Atia is CEO of B-Diet, a food processing company based in Tamale in the Northern Region. The award-winning entrepreneur is changing the face of food processing in Northern Ghana through the production of some of the most nutritious foods capable of dealing child malnutrition which is a big problem in this part of the country. Some of the products he has produced include B-Diet breakfast cereals in varieties of sorghum, millet, rice, maize and hausa Koko. Through his NGO Mabihili Foundation, he provides educational support to orphans and children of disabled guardians/parents. Congratulations sir.

Ms Rhoda Kadoa Wedam has found an antidote to the problem of Kayaye in Ghana. The constant migration of young girls from rural communities in the North to the better developed parts of Southern Ghana for menial jobs led her to found Song-Ba Empowerment Centre where she trains them cloth weaving, sewing of sanitary cloth, etc for free while paying each girl at the end of every month. Since 2016, the 2020 Mandela Washington Fellow has trained over 7000 girls. Congratulations Madam.

Mr Abdulai Abu-Wemah comes to many as a lovely person. He's credited by some of his former students at the E. P. College of Education, Bimbilla, for the massive transformation the College received when he was Principal. As at 2018 when he was retiring from active service as an educationist, the College was attaining 100 percent pass rate at every final year exam of Colleges of Education in Ghana and winning several awards of the Academic Board of the University of Cape Coast which the College is affiliated to. The radio presenter cm event organiser has led the development of great brands that are putting Northern Ghana on the map of entertainment. He's CEO of the popular Northern Excellence Awards and Northern Ghana Entertainment Awards. He's founder of Smile Media Training School in Tamale where he awards scholarship to 50% applicants each year. For years, she led many civil society organisations in the then Northern Region comprising today's North East and the Savannah Regions to advocate for peace. She was deeply involved in several land and chieftaincy related conflicts and through the Inter NGOs Consortium where she was Chairperson, she was able to bring relative peace and stability to many communities. The former school teacher was in 2010 honoured by the US Government with the Martin Luther King Jr Award for Peace and Social Justice for her many years of work in peacebuilding in Ghana and across West Africa. The venerable Rev. Prof. Joseph Saa Dittoh is a household name in the field of agriculture economics in Ghana and beyond. The former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies is one of the earliest faculty members of the university when it was established in 1992. Though on retirement, he's still assisting the UDS where he's currently Grants Coordinator of the West African Centre for Water, Irrigation and Sustainable Agriculture (WACWISA).
