The High Court in Accra has dismissed the case filed by Deborah Seyram Adablah, the young woman who has sued a former Chief Finance officer of a bank claiming sexual harassment.

In a ruling today (Nov 28) the Court presided over by Justice John Bosco Nabarese held that although the relationship between the two was immoral and was not in conformity to acceptance of society, there was no reasonable cause of action arising from the writ filed by Adablah.

The plaintiff has been slapped with a cost of GH¢10, 000.

The ruling comes after the former Chief Finance Officer of the bank filed an application urging the court to strike the case of Adablah.

Former President, John Mahama, has promised to run a government of only sixty ministers when successful in the 2024 elections.

This, he says, is to save resources to cater for allowances of assembly members.

When the 'Building Ghana Campaign' made a stop at Dwomoh in the Ahafo region, John Mahama told residents "every minister is given two vehicles; one four-wheel and a salon car. Government caters for their housing and other entertainment facilities. Allowances are also paid to them… If we reduce these numbers we will save money to pay assembly members".

The Director of the Institute of Local Government Studies, Professor Nicholas Awortwi, who made the proposal, called for amendments of the country’s electoral laws to accommodate the reform.

He said whether such persons were foreigners or not, once they were legally resident in a local area where they paid property rate, local taxes and involved themselves in community activities, they must be allowed to vote in local level elections.

In an interview, Prof. Awortwi explained that doing that would allow for more participation in local government elections.

He clarified that the reform did not mean foreigners should be allowed to contest the country’s local elections.
