**The official handover ceremony of the DUNENYO ZĀ Day torch took place at FOPADESC on March 16, 2024: a tradition in motion.**

This Saturday, March 16, 2024, the streets of FOPADESC were imbued with the vibrant atmosphere of tradition. The official ceremony of handing over the torch of the DUNENYO ZĀ festival: EWE festival of greater Lomé takes place. Preparations for this long-awaited celebration began this morning in the commune of Agoè-Nyivé 4, in the heart of the canton of Togblekope, symbolizing a deep tribute to the ancestral roots of the Aflao, Bè and Agoè-Nyivé communities.

The event attracted a multitude of administrative authorities, including deputies, mayors and municipal councilors of greater Lomé, all gathered to celebrate the history and traditions that have shaped the city of Lomé since the 17th century. Under the benevolent eye of local and religious authorities: canton, village and neighborhood chiefs, as well as religious priests, the ceremony took on a solemn character marked by respect and pride. We include in the ranks of officials the following traditional and cultural chiefs: traditional chief of the city of greater Lomé: Togbuigan DJIDJOLI DETUTogbuigan AGBOTRO -LOGBO IV, Togbuigan Adéla AKLASSOU IV, Togbuigan ASSIMADO II, and members of the representatives of the associations of UCAD, RAD Grand Lomé, UFAD, federal council...
The tradition was properly honored with prayer to the ancestors, showing deep respect and gratitude to previous generations. This official handing over of the torch to the organizing president is also marked by the official presentation of the organizing committee composed of five members, the president of which is Mr. Yao K. AZUMAH, in their work mission, this committee is accompanied by a sub-committee of ten members, whose main mission is to guarantee as a whole the smooth running of this emblematic festival which will bring together the Ewe people of greater Lomé.

DUNENYO ZĀ, this traditional festival rooted in the history of the EWE communities: Aflao, Bè and Agoè-Nyivé, is much more than a simple celebration. It embodies the desire to bring together the descendants of the founding fathers of Lomé, to reconnect with their common heritage and pass it on to future generations. This year, under the enlightened leadership of traditional and cultural leaders of the canton of Agoè-Nyivé, the festival takes on a new dimension, highlighting five essential pillars.

According to the president of the organization, the 05 essential pillars on which this year's festival is based are: consolidating our traditions and our culture, promoting solidarity and fraternity between the three Ewe communities of greater Lomé (Agoè-Nyivé, Aflao and Bè ), preserve the environmentthrough waste recycling, promote the essential role of women, and finally, pay tribute to the leaders who have contributed to forging the unwavering links between these communities.

Under the captivating rhythms of the Djibondi folk group from Togblekope, this ceremony marks the start of a week of festivities dedicated to the richness and diversity of our culture and traditions. DUNENYO ZĀ, symbol of our collective identity, lives on brilliantly, thus reaffirming our unwavering attachment to our roots and our commitment to a future marked by solidarity and mutual respect.

Note that the official handing over of this torch marks the festive start of the activities of the DUNENYO ZĀ festival which will take place in the month of August in the canton of Agoè-Nyivé.

**La cérémonie de remise officielle du flambeau de la fête de DUNENYO ZĀ a eu lieu à FOPADESC ce 16 mars 2024 : une tradition en Mouvement.**

Ce samedi 16 mars 2024, les rues de FOPADESC se sont imprégnées de l'atmosphère vibrante de la tradition. La cérémonie de remise officielle du flambeau de la fête de DUNENYO ZĀ : fête des EWE du grand Lomé prend place. Les préparatifs de cette célébration tant attendue ont débuté ce matin dans la commune d'Agoè-Nyivé 4, au cœur du canton de Togblekope, symbolisant un hommage profond aux racines ancestrales des communautés Aflao, Bè et Agoè-Nyivé.

L'événement a attiré une multitude d'autorités administratives, parmi lesquelles des députés, des maires et des conseillers municipaux du grand Lomé, tous réunis pour célébrer l'histoire et les traditions qui ont façonné la ville de Lomé dès le 17ᵉ siècle. Sous l'œil bienveillant des autorités locales et religieuses : les chefs de cantons, de village et de quartier, ainsi que des prêtres religieux, la cérémonie a pris un caractère solennel empreint de respect et de fierté. Nous comptons dans les rangs des officiels les chefs traditionnelles et culturels suivants : chef traditionnel de la ville du grand Lomé : Togbuigan DJIDJOLI DETU X, Togbuigan ADJALE DADJI XI, Togbuigan HOUNKPETO IV, Togbuigan KPODODZRA IV, Togbuigan SEDZRO IV, Togbuigan Aziankpeté HOSSOU IV, Togbuigan AGBOTRO -LOGBO IV, Togbuigan Adéla AKLASSOU IV, Togbuigan ASSIMADO II, et les membres des représentants des associations de UCAD, RAD Grand Lomé, UFAD, conseil fédéral...
La tradition a été honorée comme il se doit avec la prière aux ancêtres, témoignant du profond respect et de la gratitude envers les générations précédentes. Cette remise officielle du flambeau au président d'organisation est également marquée par la présentation officielle du comité d'organisation composé de cinq membres dont le président est M. Yao K. AZUMAH, dans leur mission de travail, ce comité est accompagné d'une sous-commission de dix membres, qui ont pour mission principale de garantir dans son ensemble le bon déroulement de cette fête emblématique qui va réunir le peuple Ewe du grand Lomé.

DUNENYO ZĀ, cette fête traditionnelle enracinée dans l'histoire des communautés EWE : Aflao, Bè et Agoè-Nyivé, est bien plus qu'une simple célébration. Elle incarne la volonté de rassembler les descendants des pères fondateurs de Lomé, de renouer avec leur héritage commun et de le transmettre aux générations futures. Cette année, sous la direction éclairée des leaders traditionnels et culturels du canton d'Agoè-Nyivé, la fête prend une nouvelle dimension, mettant en lumière cinq piliers essentiels.

Selon le président d'organisation, les 05 piliers essentiels sur lequel repose la fête de cette année sont : consolider nos traditions et notre culture, promouvoir la solidarité et la fraternité entre les trois communautés Ewe du grand Lomé (Agoè-Nyivé, Aflao et Bè), préserver l'environnement à travers le recyclage des déchets, valoriser le rôle primordial des femmes, et enfin, rendre hommage aux leaders ayant contribué à tisser les liens indéfectibles entre ces communautés.

Sous les rythmes envoûtants du groupe folklorique Djibondi de Togblekope, cette cérémonie marque le début d'une semaine de festivités dédiées à la richesse et à la diversité de notre culture et de nos traditions. DUNENYO ZĀ, symbole de notre identité collective, se perpétue avec éclat, réaffirmant ainsi notre attachement indéfectible à nos racines et notre engagement envers un avenir empreint de solidarité et de respect mutuel.

Notons que la remise officielle de ce flambeau marque le début festif des activités de la fête de DUNENYO ZĀ qui aura lieu dans le mois d'août dans le canton d'Agoè-Nyivé.
