OVER 500 MEMBERS OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA GRANTED GHANAIAN CITIZENSHIP. 🇬🇭🇬🇭

A historic moment unfolded at the Accra International Conference Center on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, as 524 members of the African diaspora were officially granted Ghanaian citizenship.
This event, the third of it's kind under president Akuffo-Addo's administration, celebrated the enduring bond between Ghana and it's global diaspora.

The ceremony is part of an ongoing initiative that began with the "Year of Return" in 2019, commemorating 400 years since the first enslaved Africans were transported to the Americas.
President Akuffo-Addo described the event as a significant milestone in reconnecting the African diaspora with their ancestral roots.

DARIEN GAP; ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS MIGRANT ROUTES.

The Darien Gap is an imposing obstacle on one of the world's most dangerous migrant routes. The remote, roadless crossing on the border between Colombia and Panama consists of more than 60 miles of dense rain forest, steep mountains, and vast swamps. It is the only overland path connecting Central and South America. Over the past few years, it has become a leading transit point for migrants in search of work and safety in the United States.

The trek across the Darien Gap, a stretch of remote, roadless, mountainous rainforest connecting South and Central America, is one of the most popular walks on earth.

Almost 250,000 people made the crossing in 2022. Early data for 2023 show six times as many made the trek from January to March, 87,390 compared to 13,791 last year, a record, according to Panamanian authorities.

However, migrants face many challenges on this land journey northward, including treacherous terrain, exposure to disease, and violence at the hands of criminal groups.

THE KOREAN DEMILITARIZED ZONE (DMZ).

The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a heavily militarized strip of land running across the Korean peninsula near the 38th parallel north. The demilitarized zone (DMZ) is a border barrier that divides the peninsula roughly in half. It was established to serve as a buffer zone between the sovereign states of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea) under the provisions of the Korean Armistice Agreement in 1953, an agreement between North Korea, China and the United Nations Command.

The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a 160 mile long and 2.5 mile wide boundary between North and South Korea. This area is heavily guarded by troops on both sides.
There have been various incidents in and around the DMZ, with military and civilian casualties on both sides.

The end of the Korean war did nothing to end hostilities between the two nations, they have been warring for more than 60 years and do not recognize each other's sovereign status. Hundreds of people have died under these tense circumstances. Tensions are so heavy that the DMZ was created as a sort of buffer zone to keep the countries and their respective military forces at a safe distance from each other.

THE DEEPEST HUMAN-MADE HOLE ON EARTH.

The Kola Super deep Borehole SG-3 is the deepest human-made hole on Earth, which attained maximum true vertical depth of 12,262 metres (40,230ft; 7.619mi).

It is the result of a scientific drilling effort to pe*****te as deeply as possible into the Earth's Crust conducted by the Soviet Union in the Pechengsky District of the Kola peninsula, near the Russian border with Norway.
