---------------------
Heath Goldfields Bogoso - Prestea Mine hosted a media tour of its operation on Thursday, September 4, to showcase the progress made since the company took over mine.
The event was designed to give journalists a firsthand sight at the work being done to revitalize the mine and restore its operational future.
During the site visit, the media team inspected key areas including the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), the underground mine where dewatering is actively underway, and the plant site, where some significant changes have taken place, showing a positive outlook.
During a media briefing, the Managing Director of Heath Goldfields Bogoso Prestea Mine, Mr. Patrick Appiah Mensah, announced that a "settlement of GHS 16.8 million owed to local contractors has been made, restoring trust and enabling local businesses to recover. This is separate from over 100 million Ghana Cedis paid to former workers to clear salary arrears."
On the dewatering of the Prestea Underground Mine, Mr. Appiah Mensah stated, "Already, water levels are down 25 feet below 17 Level visible progress, that shows the mine is on the right path. He further stated however, that "two years of neglect cannot be unwound in just a matter of months. Even at this pace, full dewatering will take time."
The Managing Director later assured residents of Bogoso-Prestea and key stakeholders that, "we are committed to doing it properly, safely, and transparently, and we will continue to provide regular updates so stakeholders can track the progress with us."
