Serial Callers In Anlo Constituency Ready To Buy Indelible Ink For EC Come 2024 General Election

Huge Suspicions which surrounded the 2023 District Level Election in Ghana made most Ghanaians vigilant in the coming 2024 General Election to ensure free and fair Voting as the 1992 Constitution of Ghana entails.

According to Serial callers in Anlo Constituency, Indelible ink has been used in Ghana in previous elections to mark voters as proof of voting and to publicly show that a particular person has already voted and cannot vote multiple times. And was a risk management and control tool to ensure elections were free and fair.

The Communication Officer for Anlo Constutuency, Hon. Shugah Mawuli Anthonio adding his voice , eulogize the serial callers for not being spectators but rather passionate callers in the Constituency and beyond.

Though He also contested and won the just ended assembly election, he is at sea due to EC's inability to provide indelible ink for the District Level Elections held on 19th December, 2019.

He added,''Indelible ink has been part of our electoral processes since the inception of our democracy, so we are demanding that tradition to continue.''

The aggrieved Serial Callers Even though are willing to buy indelible ink for EC, they are also asking for tangible reasons EC is eliminating the indelible ink in coming elections rather than telling them it has outlived its importance.

They strongly believe the BVD system does not operate in isolation , that humans operate them, that is where their fear is. And they are hereby, calling for the use of the indelible ink as a prove of vote being cast.

They continued to ascertain If it is about the cost, they are ever ready to pull resources together to help buy it for the Electoral Commission. And moreover, If it is about their fingers, that should never be the headache for the EC, it is their own fingers so they are absolutely ready to dip them into the ink.

They humbly entreat all Members of Parliament not to approve any budget of the EC if indelible ink is eliminated from the electoral Process.

They finally call on National House of Chiefs, Catholic Bishops' Conference, Christian Council, Peace Council, CODEO and all those who matter in the upcoming election to call Jeanne Mensah and her apparatchiks to order now! To avoid plunging our democracy into a mess.

Togbi Nyigbla is Riding into town Tonight

There is a town-crier by name Fo Klu going around Anloga township right now announcing that Togbi Nyigbla (the supreme Anlo deity who sits on a white horse and reveals himself to only virgins and the pure of heart, which is also the reason horses are not allowed into Anloga) will be coming out and going around town at 9pm tonight and for that matter, people should not be in town or they might risk meeting him or suffering some consequences.

According to him, he has been sent by chiefs of Anlo to make this announcement.

Now, here is what I am thinking. If you want nobody in town today from 9pm, shouldn't you have made that announcement a week at least or days ago to enable everybody to prepare to not be in town today at 9pm?

I am in Anloga and I just heard the announcement 30 minutes ago.

So, what happens to those travelling from Accra and other parts of Ghana to Anloga tonight? Have they being informed? Do they know that Togbi Nyigbla is riding into town today and moving around his old haunts starting from 9pm?

I hope Togbi Nyigbla, if he rides into people who are not aware of this announcement and his outing at 9pm tonight, will spare them the consequences.

May peace reign in Anlo.

Anlo Traditional Council Extends Olive Branch to Torgbui Amenya Fiti V for Peaceful Resolution

Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V on Thursday 26th October, 2023 received an unusual delegation of Anlo Chiefs who came with 'olive branches' from the Awormefia of Anlo Torgbui Sri III to reconcile ahead of Hogbetsotso festival this year.

The delegation that was headed by Nyigblefia ( Eyes of the gods) and Torgbui Sobo together with some other Anlo chiefdoms were in the Agorkpanu Palace to appeal for the end of the decade old rivalry between the two Anlo and Aflawu paramountcy.

The visitation become necessary due to a purported message received through Nyigblefia Ashi Apim Kubi II of Anlo. The message was revealed through a divination is that the troubles that are befalling the Anlo Kingdom was as a result of an offense against the Aflawus and the Beawo in Togo and therefore the need to smoke a peace pipe.

The delegation came with some local drinks, schnapps, cloth and money as directed by the gods.

Torgbui Amenya Fiti is expected to lead the pacification rites in Anlo ahead of the Hogbetsotso festival if he had agreed to the reconcile with the Anlos.

The delegation were a bit disappointed when the President of Aflao Traditional Council, Paramount Chief of Aflao Traditional Area and Adzonugaga of Aflawu Dukor of Ghana, Togo and Benin, Torgbui Amenya Fiti V has collected the reconciliation items from the delegation but refuse to accept the terms of reconciliation to partake in the activities of the Hogbetsotso festival unless the Anlo delegation publicly confess their offense against the Aflawus.

It is worth noting that, Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V stopped participation in matters relating to Anlo Traditional Council and declared Aflao independent of Anlo due to the enstoolment of a rival chief Torgbui Afla X in Anlo for the Aflao State.

Talking to this reporter after the departure of the Anlo delegations, some of the Aflao citizens around of Aflao alleged that the only offense by Anlo Traditional Council against the Paramount Chief of Aflao is the enstoolment of another Chief as the Paramount Chief of Aflao by the Awormefia of Anlo.

In the Ewe community, Hogbetsotso Za is one of the most prominent festivals celebrated by the chief's and people of Anlo. Hogbetsotso means coming from Hogbe (Notsie presently called the Republic of Togo). This is an annual celebration on the first Saturday of November. There are traditional drumming, singing of war songs, palanquins of different sizes in which King's sit in and some many more cultural activities. The Hogbetsotso Za festival is celebrated by the Anlos to commemorate their exodus and bravery of their traditional rulers. Through endurance and sacrifice, the rulers delivered them from the King called Agokoli. The Hogbetsotso Za festival reminds the Anlos of their ancestry and rekindles the bond of relationship that existed between them.
