David Raya will 100 percent be an Arsenal player next season. I told you already in October and November that Arsenal had a verbal plan with Brentford because they wanted to sign Raya last summer.

Then the deal was changed because of Financial Fair Play rules, so Arsenal decided to proceed with a loan deal that had a buy option, and the two clubs had a gentlemen's agreement that Arsenal would buy David Raya for £27m.

Also, the player wants to stay at Arsenal. He’s very happy with Arteta, with the staff, with the club, with the board and with his team-mates, so everything is perfect.

“I hear a lot of pundits say the position (DM) has changed, but I’m not so sure. For me, the principles remain the same. I still view Declan as a holding midfielder who protects the back four and gives support to the guys up front. It’s the same job I was asked to do.

What is really important in the position is the passing. It doesn’t matter how many balls you win back if you then just lose possession. So you need a vision: to know how you’re going to win the ball then what you are going to do with it.

Declan does this really well. He never runs back or forward without a plan. And physically he’s a monster, and the scary part is he’s still raising his level. I think he’s been amazing for Arsenal. It just feels like he has known the club and its players for a very long time. He’s adapted so fast since joining from West Ham.

I also believe he can play with either Thomas Partey or Jorginho. I know they play more or less in the same role, but because Rice is adaptable their abilities are complimentary.”

Benjamin White has been the best full-back in the Premier League this season. He’s always available, 90 minute man. Overlap, underlap or inverting, the man can do it all. He’s a duel winning monster and will run through a brick wall for you. England losing out on talent of this level due to a manager is a bigger issue than most seem to realise.

“The fans have been fantastic; they’ve been fantastic for a long time,” he continued. “Especially today, we needed them. They made some noise and got us through spells in which we needed them. They were there for us, and we were there for them.
