*IN RESPONSE TO A PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT BY NANA AKOSUA AMOEBA*
II ( *QUEENMOTHER OF* *OFFUMAN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL)*
ON *WIASE FM WENCHI ON INSTALLATION OF NEW OMANHENE *FOR*
*OFFUMAN *TRADITIONAL AREA*

Nananom, distinguished citizens of Offuman home and abroad, Pressmen and ladies and
gentlemen.

Good afternoon everyone.
I am *Fosu Gyan Gyeabour*, a citizen of Offuman and a member of Royal Abease Family,
speaking on behalf of the organisers ( *Concerned Kingmakers* and *Royal Abease Family*
*of Offuman* ) of this press conference. We have gathered you here today to clear the air
and your minds on certain developments going on in Offuman traditional area which if not addressed as soon as possible will bring serious disturbances to our area.

Already
*situations are volatile in terms of chieftaincy* disputes and it seems we are sitting on time
bomb ready to explode at any time.

We there want to state categorically that Ofuman has no Omanhene hence a pronouncement by Yejihene recently that one Kwaku Collins Ofuman Hemaa's has been gazetted is a falaccy.
There yeji hene has been given three days to retract the said gazette pronouncement since the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs have no Lawyer to handle their case as earlier claimed.
Hence the a 3day ultimatum has been given to him to clear the air about what he said since the issue is also before court hence the public should note that Ofuman in Techiman North has no Chief.
As a result we want to public to note that;

1.We want to react on the subject matter as follows:
On the 8th April 2022, the Queenmother of Offuman Traditional Council (the
Queenmother) announced on the Wiase fm in Wenchi that the Bono East Regional
House of Chiefs has accepted and gazetted her son Collins Ameyaw Bawuah of
Offuman as the Paramount Chief of Offuman Traditional Area. Press release later
by the House from unknown/secret location captured on many social media affirmed
this position of the Queenmother.

2.However, we are aware that with the death of Nana Okofo Asiedu Dwamena
Akenteng II as Offumanmanhene in the year 2015, the Offuman Stool became
vacant and has remained so up to date. We are also aware that the Queenmother
without the approval of the majority of the kingmakers of the Offuman Paramount
Stool and the Royal Abease Family decided to solely install his son Collins Ameyaw
Bawuah of Offuman as the Paramount Chief of Offuman Traditional Area. In view
of this development, we filed a petition and injunction against the Queenmother on
the matter at the said Regional House of Chiefs on the 23rd November 2020 and
4th January 2022 respectively.



4.We are aware that the Queenmother had responded to our petition by presenting her
Statement of Case to the House, and the House has subsequently referred same to
our lawyers for response.
The House has indicated to us that at the moment it does not have a permanent
lawyer to help the chiefs to adjudicate the cases pending before them, and this was
echoed by the President of the Bono East House of Chiefs, Pimampim Yaw
Kabresse V, who is also Omanhene of Yeji Traditional Council. During a press
release after their nefarious act, the President of the House was quoted as saying
“...out of the total 19 Paramountcies in the Bono East region, only 9 currently have
active Chiefs as the remaining 10 are all in disputes and therefore pleads with
Government to give them a permanent Lawyer to come and help Nananom resolve
all outstanding conflicts in order to have a full House”.
Apart from the chieftaincy dispute case pending before the House, we are not aware
of any other arrangements that have brought the matter to a close. Therefore, we
view the statement of the Queenmother and the action of House as an alarming and
serious development that has the potential of casting doubts in the minds of the
people as regards the peace and stability of the Offuman society. We call on the
authorities and as a matter of urgency to call the Queenmother and the House to
proof where, when and how chieftaincy dispute of Offuman was resolved.

5.We view with regret and much apprehension the action by the House, and we are
curious to know whether a house of chiefs can install a chief in a traditional area
without reference to the kingmakers and the royal family of the area. If anything at
all Nananom can only play advisory role to reduce the chieftaincy disputes in their
jurisdiction and not interfere and take sides in any way.

6.We consider very unfortunate the action by the House to leave other numerous
chieftaincy disputes pending before it and only isolating and treating our case in this
manner. What is their motivation in this matter? Why this stance by the Nananom
who should know better that such actions are likely to deepen and heighten the
already volatile chieftaincy dispute in Offuman. We would like to inform the House
that its overt and covert activities with regards to the chieftaincy issue in Offuman
have been ignored and must be condemned in no uncertain terms

7.The House is therefore advised to revise its notes on how to deal with Offuman chieftaincy
dispute.

8.We want to say that the action by the House is an affront to us and the
people of Offuman.
We and the people of Offuman have agreed to seek a judicial determination of the
case, to see that peace prevails in the area. This is why we are still in Court, but it has come to our notice that certain developments from our opponent backed by the
House who is supposed to be a referee and for that matter neutralise give cause for
alarm.

9. We want to draw the attention of the nation, the authorities and everybody that, we
have been able to hold our peace for a while, by not acting in ways that will disturb
the peace. We do not want any blame by going contrary to acceptable peaceful
procedures. It is because of this that peace has prevailed for some time now.

10.We take a serious view of the actions of the Queenmother and the House, and we
cannot sit down, fold our arms and look unconcerned for these nefarious activities
of the Queenmother and the House to take place. But we cannot therefore be blamed
for the aftermath of whatever transpires in the place if the House does not rescinds
its decision.

By this news conference we want to draw the attention of the whole world that the
Offuman chieftaincy dispute is still pending before the House and has not been
settled in anyway as being peddled by the Queenmother and her cohorts, therefore
the actions taken by the Queenmother and the House is unacceptable. We have
maintained peace; we have kept it for a long time.

The action taken by the
Queenmother and the House has gone beyond over the bar and we cannot continue
to tolerate it.

District, Bono East Region and Ghana.

The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) has opposed the proposal to cancel the allowance paid to them by the government.

The teacher trainees also expressed their opposition to suggestions that they should be made to access loans from the Student Loan Trust Fund just like their counterparts in other tertiary education institutions
